I have a electrical problem

I got a 1981/2 yamaha s540ec sled that I screwed up on the other day and left the lights on and drained the battery. So I pulled it and got it started and the light came on, so I turned it off rode it for a while but then the light and heated grips didn't work. Now even with charged battery it won't turn over or even try to. Any ideas?

I just found the book on it is is a 1980 EC540D then it says excel v on hood

bown fuse down by the starter selinoid.......plus you should not have power running to the lights when engine is not running

I found the problem The wire was broke by the PO and just twisted together and tape needless to say it came apart. The lights have also been rewired by PO to a toggle switch.
