SRX woes: should I kept it or let it go

Thankfully I'm a bushwhacker and never have the luxury of watching my tach or speedo or I'm sure it would drive me nuts. When I do get to pull the trigger across a field my tach hits 8500 and the ol' srx launches. Never have time to see where it settles back to before I have a tree line to tend with.
Clutching does need some tuning for my riding style and help with that has been offered. You can bet your azz I will following it to the letter for a base, and asking questions if it's not quite right.
So Blue, maybe it's time to just ride er like you stole er and wrench when you have to limp home.
I figure as long as my motor isnt going to blow up, the rest is just tinkering.
Good gas, clean carbs, good to go. ;)!

I think there are a lot of guys on here that make their sleds slower than stock after they "clutch" them. I went through that with my 97 sx700, the more money and parts added
the slower it was. Everything has to jive together and the more you change the more complex it gets.

was working the the SRX all day..Got the stator replaced. Carbs are off and inspecting everything on them.Decided to check the reeds for the heck of it,and wouldn't you know, the third one I took off ,the reed lost the whole corner to it,so I replaced it..maybe that will change something.
Just waiting for the PV cables to show up to complete my task and then take her for a rip and see what she does...hate waiting for parts.... :o| would like to be riding. This weekend is going to be awesome riding weather. :sled1: :sled1:

I had some cracked reeds in my outboard a few years back.
100hp on a 14' flat bottom ThunderCraft rated for 60hp and it was a dog out of the hole and wouldnt open up once it did climb outa the hole. New reeds, new boat. ;)!

I think it should rip again once I install the new cables and adjust valves.Have another offer for $2500 less track and skid..still debating what to do..depends on how she runs again..

You test the stator before replacing??? Seems silly replacing parts that dont need to be replaced?? Ive been having stator trouble and sled just plain *** wont run. So id ohm it first see what you got. Think you need to just relax about this whole rpm thing sometimes. weather, snowconditions, also have a big effect on clutching and performance. Obviously you dont want to be cranking 9 grand but just my opinion if ur within a couple hundred then your 10-4. Agree with everyone else blue put her back stock relax and ride that sob
