hey everyone im looking for suggestions.I just tore down my carbs because it was running rough and bogging down.I found plenty of crud especially on the pilots.I finished up and at 1st it fired right up and sounded good. Then it didnt want to idle well and was breaking up when I reved it.So I took it for a short ride,it ran good on the top end but not down low and wont even idle. When I pulled the plugs 2 were pretty white and the 3rd was not quite as bad.when I pulled everything apart I didnt mess with the oil lines or cable.seems like its not getting oil.Im going back out to take it apart again and will check back for suggestions thanks Al

its lean!!!! dont run it any more! if its bogging it maybe because of lack of fuel causing it to run hot. if you had no oil you wouldent of made it 50 feet. look over float hight, and piolt setttings

I can't find anything wrong.fuel screw set at 1.5 out. The fuel doesn't shoot out of the lines as much as I thought it should when I turn it over...

When you clean the jets make sure that you can see through them, and shoot compressed air through the circuits in the carburetor to ensure that they're not plugged or partially plugged causing your issues. If you need to, poke a thin piece of wire through the jets to be sure they are clean.

Ok,got side tracked 4 a while.carbs recleaned blown out with air but I haven't put em back on yet.8" of snow. Go figure

well,i put everything back together and still wont run.I recleaned and blew everything out set the fuel screw to 2 turns out and theres no difference.when i started it up it ran and sounded great for about 1 min then noticibly fell off and ran rough again.im stumped.

is it still getting hot? look for air leaks on the intake manafiold and crank case, maybe bad crank seals?

ill check for air leaks but im leaning towards not enough fuel.im actually thinking about taking it in,something ive never had to do in 20 years of tinkering with sleds

air leaks would cause a not enough fuel condition aka lean. if its only happening on mag side or pto i would bet a crank seal affecting that cylender

no leaks that i could find, used a can of starting fluid, spraying all around.it seems like all cylinders are about the same.what i dont get is that when i opened the carbs and saw the blocked pilots i was 100% sure it was going to run great.what a disapointment...

when you removed the piot jets, did you stick the carb clean spray nozzle into the carb where the pilot jet screws in and sprayed it. It should come out of the little orfice in the FRONT engine side of the carb, right above the fuel screw.
If it doesnt squirt up thru that orfice, the circuit is still plugged up and you need to get it cleaned out.

No spare fuel pump Chris,mr viper yes I cleaned the ports and blew them out with compressed air.i think I'm going to fish out the in-tank filter and check it and the pickup tube

you didnt answer the question, did you observe carb cleaner fluid coming out of the orfice in the carb?

if you just blew air thru them then they may and likely are still plugged up

if it was the fuelpump it wouldnt run at all as it would have dry bowls, so if you pull the carbs and the bowls are full its not a fuel pump. When the pump is bad they will idle but not rev up and usually backfire out the exhaust from going lean then when rpm comes back down idle again. This isnt what your describing.

is it backfiring out the exahust even at low rpm?

when you rode it, did it rev up above 8000 rpm?

did you remove the float pins and remove the needle and seat assemblys?

what do the screens on top of the seats look like?
