SRX replacement skid?

As anyone replace the stock skid of there SRX for something liter or different the stock one? A friend of mine wants to switch it out for something liter.
Yup lots of people have. I put an m10 in mine others put the cat Polaris doo anything u want really is better than the no action

I have an M10 and it rides awesome! You do give up some top end and lose your hole shot unless you shave the coupling blocks. You should also do the front end at the same time so it isn't nose heavy or tippy.

Leave it stock I would imagine is the best once ur replace or upgrade the skid I heard u need all right size shock , torque arm ,straps spindles the whole suspension to upgrade just half hearting it is no use ' plus maybe ur relocating holes where factory rivets should be ! My guess it would be a good way to bend ur sled out of geometry ! Factory factory I find the pro action system ok although I'm a 160 pound rider still handles ok with a 100 pound person on the back just can't hit the hill at 60 or even 40

I installed a rear skid from a 2011 Phaser. It is not a high end racing suspension but it rides much better than pro action and sits higher, lighter and better in deep snow! I really like it over the pro action.

Why does everyone rip on the pro-action so bad? It really isn't that bad with fresh shocks. I know the new stuff out there rides and handles the bumps better than our sleds ever will. But replacing worn shocks is a night and day difference. I've never considered replacing my skid, just getting the shocks rebuilt has always put a smile back on my face. Let the debate continue.

I had an Xtra-10 in my SRX, and put one in my Vmax a couple months ago. Lighter, easier to work on, and works better for me. Plus having a Polaris dealer in town is nice if I ever need a part for the skid.

M10 is the bomb baby. I will never go back to the pro action. Those that say the pro action is fine have never ridden with a better suspension.

I agree, M10's ride is awsome. But for what the SRX was designed for and how I use mine, I don't want to give up what little weight transfer the pro- action gives (which isn't to bad when set up) and the loss on top end out on the lake. 3 to 5 mph, and that's being generous, is alot.

Hey goody, alittle off topic but what were your 60ft times in your mustang runs. Those are some impressive times on street tires and stock stall AOD. Especially the n2o runs. I'm just curious cause I have a 87 notch that I've been playing with and that trap speed is up there.

i put a 2003 rx1 in my srx it was a direct bolt in

how is the ride and hookup??? looking at picking up another srx and looking to do something similar only in 136" or 144"

I would stick to something of the same bolt patter of yamaha ! And make sure it's put on right! And and of course check for rubbing! If it goes on a srx well u might need viper shocks trail arms and spindles to boot with ur new set up or ur weight would all tranfer to ur ski making handling impossible on turns or cause plowing !

I think thats a key point. Many of the people that bought SRXs , including myself, ride in all kinds of conditions. Not just on lakes and smooth trails,or drag racing.Theres no arguing about how well the SRX handles those conditions.

When you install a skid that actually performs well in most conditions, you will learn to enjoy the SRX way more then you ever have before. ;)!

The pro-action is very limited I agree, but if you have good shocks, shim all your bushings to get the 40-80 thousands of factory slop out of the skid, and put bearing in the middle shock like the rear shock has, it can actually work fairly well.
I just went threw my whole rear skid, added grease zirks in areas where they should be and saw a tremendous increase in ride and bump capability. BETHEVIPER has a great article on this and how to set-up your suspention per rider weight, by utilizing the rear shock more than the center shock. Again it rides better than new, and the W arm has less stress on it which will prolong life on the weak link. (the W arm)

Also heard a Apex skid is a nice up grade, It's lighter and only has one shock. But you will most likley have to mess with the front end to make it turn. It depends on your motivation.

In my opinion, the secret to the M10 is in the shock valving. If you compare spring rates, they are very similar which tells me both suspensions are designed to work with the same loads and probably a similar geometry. That leaves shock valving as the major difference. I have never been able to confirm it, but I believe the rear shock on the M10 has some sort of by-pass valving like the Polaris position sensitive shocks in the Xtra10. Just my opinion.

My 60' on motor was 2.04, on N2O it was 2.16, blew the tires off when N2O hit, had to get off it, then back on it. I drove 90 miles down there and back, hence the street tires.
