primary bolt replacement?

I stripped out the threads on the primary bolt (goes in to crank) the crank threads are ok. Can I replace the bolt with a normal hex bolt from the hardware store it will be grade 8 or 5 and the same length as the OEM.

I would think it would be ok, I my self would get a oem one, im sure you could get a good used one on here, what I am wondering is how the heck did you strip that one, if you did it to spec, I always tighten to 85 Ft lbs then loosen and retighten to 50 ft lbs.

yea ive used grade 8s from the hardware store......no problems yet
