Engine noise

Quick question on a 98 srx 700. After i've ridden a few miles when i stop and its at idle, i get a few chirps out of the motor. Almost sounds like a dry bearing, only does it a few times and just for a second or two. I know the 98's had crank issues, but the sled runs great and has no loss of power. Since i bought it last year, i've put about 450 miles on it last year, and another 400 this year. The sled has almost 6000 miles on it, like i said i have no issues with this sled, just an annoying chirp when warm? Any ideas, or suggestions?

What's ur oil consumption ? Moisture in tank or carbs ? Coil and coil packs ! Plugs what they look like ? I had moisture causing a stumble and back for and miss fire ! I put 1/2 of a quarter bottle of dry gas and 20 premium ran it dry filled up to the top ran perfect although plug fouling is almost garentee when cold starting these machines after hard riding a few days

Plugs are a nice brown,oil cons. is about 3 tanks to a oil fill., after moving i had the carbs cleaned and rejetted for the hills, and powervalves cleaned and adjusted(by a good yamaha shop) only run 91 octane. Like i said i dont have a driveability issue at all. just an annoying chirp at idle. I ran -10 to -20 degree temps back home, moved to the black hills where its 10 to 40 plus and 5000 ft elev. its done it in both climates. I put new plugs in every fall and naven't fouled any plugs in this sled.

Is your belt new.. It will make a chirping or squeling sound for first while..

I beleive i did switch belts before i moved out here, but i will check my clutches.

Check Belt deflection could be a little tighter than before with belt change.

My belts give a squel or chirp when a new one is put on.. Clutches are dead on, just the new belt wearing in.. Hope that is what the problem is..

http://youtu.be/T9tYewVNNis Took it out for a quik jaunt this afternoon and you can hear it at about the 5 min and 5:58 mark. It's a quick sqreech type noise does it twice then done. otherwise you dont hear it in rest of the rpm ranges?

its look to be a clutch trouble ...what is your clutch combo in your sled ...on the video the sled seem to have trouble to roll free ...does it engage at high rpm ??it look like your overheating the primary clutch

I think it's your belt or clutch. Couldn't really hear the chirp but both those points where when you were around engagement rpm.

I could hear the loud exh...lol and then what I think to be the rollers may be a little loose on the shaft in the front clutch, the squeek at the end sounds to be belt deflection a tad snug is all, you can adjust that with the 3 bolts on back of sec clutch. The ticky ticky noise when you were at the road crossing is the sound of a primary clutch roller just a tad loose on the pin, and they will tap on the weight just about to touch them, common seen that before quite a few times.

Looked at the primary and it appears to be all untouched, i think i'll let her go and get it rebuilt this summer, seems to me my 95 vmax clutch went out about the same mileage. thanks guys.
