New SRX owner, need a little help/advice:)

Ok, so unfortunately I did not have time to attempt this before leaving for my Christmas trip tomorrow with family ( we bring the sleds with ). So I opted to inspect the best I could with the track up in the air hanging from the ceiling.

I found that the track seemed really tight compared to the suggestions that it should be set to about an inch or so off the slide with 10-20lbs pull, some even suggest an inch with no pull. Mine was at about half inch and really wearing out the new slide from last season. One side even seemed a little tighter then the other. I adjusted that to the one inch on each side, replaced a couple idler wheels and greased everything up. From what I could tell, I didn't see any cracks in the W arm and the bushings seemed serviceable for now.I can definitely feel a difference in the vibration, seems much more muted now. Especially on decel.

I think I will attempt the skid removal after my holiday trip, would hate to take it out and not get it back together in time.

Another question for you guys, on WOT I reach like 8500-8600 on the tach. I have read top rpm should be 8300, why would this be happening? Stock sled except for studs.

Also, after cleaning the Power valves, do you have to adjust them or if they worked fine before cleaning do you just reinstall and do the idle down below 900rpm and shut off and then continue on your way?

Thanks again,
Dan

I'd start with the primary clutch on the rpms, check for component wear and you may need a new primary spring. If it's the original spring it is getting old. Also good idea to check clutch alignment and center to center while you're at it.

I'd always check the power valve adjustment after cleaning, especially if I don't know the history of the sled's power valve maintenance.

Sounds good, I assume the spring can be changed myself? I will research it on here as well.

The power valves were cleaned and adjusted last season is the reason I asked, I only a put few hundred miles on it since.

Thanks
