Ok it's been over 24 hours now and we've all had some time to digest the situation, that being the marriage of a Cat chassis and Yamaha engine. When I first saw the picture my immediate impression was YEAH I like it but as I looked closer at it I said HEY wait a minute.I thought it was just a coincidence that the sled looked like an Artic Cat with Yamaha decals but NOOOOOOOOO.Still I have to admit this is the best looking Cat I've ever seen lmao.
I certainly hope Yamaha had some input as to the fit and finish of the chassis and didn't just leave all that up to the enginers in TRF because we all know that has never been a strong point of Cat.
Still given the appropriate amount of money in my bank account I'd probably buy one in red http://www.yamaha-motor.ca/products/products.php?color=RD&model=4266&group=S#contentTop.

I agree, is the best looking cat I have ever seen. But for the $$$ they are commanding, I would buy another brand of sled. I also know that many will be skeptical of the quality of this chassis as cat themselves have yet to figure it out in two seasons of production. IMHO cat didn't do enough testing or r &d.

I loved the look of that chassis on the white and orange sno pro cats. I think it looks much better in yamaha blue and white though. I would love to own one, but it won't be until there are some cheaper used ones around to buy. I think it is a good looking machine though and I think it would be a blast to ride.

I do wish they would have put a divider between the headlights like the original vipers had. I think that would have made the front look better

I love it. Great looking sled. If I could afford one, I would buy it.
would change
Skis
hid projectors
yamaha grips
a little remolding of the seat and recover with a yamaha looking cover

Having lived in trf and riding with all the cats, these sleds are down right quick and ride great in the rough stuff, but once they hit around 90 all's they see is the taillight of a 15 year old srx, I'm waiting to hear from some non yamaha or artic personal on how it is?

I would buy the arctic cat before buying the yamaha the arctic cat is a lot lighter with more horse power and a better suspension, but I dont want to spend that kind of money on a sled that I can only ride 2 months out of the year if Im lucky, I did how ever spend that kind of money on my arctic cat side by side actually Im on my second new Arctic cat side by side, after buying only new yamaha 4 wheelers for almost 20 years I could not buy the rhino it is a way lesser machine then the arctic cats but its the truth. but i love my MM 700 and Im gonna keep riding it for a long time.

Are there issues with that Chassis?
Are Cat owners happy with them
When will they be available to buy one ?

Issues that Ive heard of are:

Reverse mechanism not working properly
Rear suspension rails having the mounting holes whop out, so there are machined plates that you can buy to sandwich the rails with to help prevent this.

Other then that...IDK

I think its going to be a great step up from the Nytro for trail pounding and ditchbanging

As far as buying one, Im sure you could go pre-order one now at your dealer. But they wont be built till next fall.

Jury still out with me...
-need to see real weights
-not enough horsepower for what I would be looking for

I still don't see anything that makes me want to have one like my SRX did to me.

Words of wisedom right there! Interested in hearing the rest of the details. I rode a buddys 98 SRX 700 and it bite me so hard I was a man on a mission to have one of my own.......I now have 4!

Listing it as the 5000 as well. Really touting there 600 ctec( makes me laugh) then barely mentioning the genesis motors in there line up

WOW.......who would have of ever thought that the cat reverse mechanisms are failing.(sarcastic tone) That's the first I've heard of it................................TODAY!!!!!
Almost like asking...........what was the problem with the 70's Ford Pinto.

again, like I said before, I think most of the issues with cats have been drivetrain. so I think this will be a great sled with yamaha motors and clutches. went to a show to see the new sleds form all manufactures when these procross sleds came out. walked away thinking it was an amazing looking sled with motors I didnt trust. they solved that issue. but I do think I would get the cat version in orange and black. looks great, always loved the orange sno pros. and really, I think yamaha will address quality control concerns before putting their name on it. they said there guys were tightening the qc at the cat plant.
