i ordered my 54/46 dalton from drivepower inc out of canada. mine is silver and the ones ive seen from dalton are a gold color, did i still get the right helix or not.

Mine is silver and I just got it a few weeks ago from the same place.I've got another one that's about 8 or 9 years old and I don't remember it being goldish in color but I'll have to check that out.

all of my daltons are gold as well, but they(dalton) may make helixs for other companys and the other company doesnt have them plated, they should be able to tell you. The plating wont make the differance but if its not made by dalton and another comany, the shiftout wont be the same so your results amy be differnt.
If it does something wrong just post and can help you dial it in for your sled/set up.

its your set up don and i added shims and cant get over 8000. just for the heck of it i put a hauck 54/44 at 60 and nuts on. just cant get my sled to pull the 54/46 falls on her face at 8000-8100 with the 54/44 it keeps pulling. i just ordered new 4.5 weights maybe my weights havent been loaded like i was told. looks like stock rivits are in the weights. test and test ill get it, lol

my helix is the right one
the gold color was a chromate stain coloring we used to do....it was discontinues 2-3 years ago. Same product though.

something is not right somewhere in the set up then, if your only pulling 8100rpm peak then your not making peak power to pull the 46 finish on the helix, this is with a button clutch, as you pm'd me saying you have a roller clutch so thats where your problem is likely.

your stock helix is a 47 finish, the dalton is a 46 so you should be able to pull peak rpm if nothing else is differnt then the helix. The reason your pulling more rpm with a 44 finish is the finish angle is shallower, so it will pull more rpm , but will load the engine less.

lastly, put your stock primary spring back in, y/w/y- its a 128kg shift and leave the rest alone it should be up to peak then if the rest is set up correctly. the w/w/w spring is only 119kg shift will lower shift rpm.

a strong running stocker will still pull the w/w/w some engines run better then others do.

ill try the stock spring maybe thats the problem. im using my stock secondary and not the roller, that was just a thought. im also going to reload my weights with adjustable 4.5 rivits im going by what i was told by the guy i bought it from. as always thanks for the info

no, dont go changing more then 1 thing at a time or you wont know how or why you fixed it or made it worse, just swap out the primary spring and leave rest alone as is, then see what your rpm is.

Too many times ( not you.. just saying in general)people start shotgunning problems and thats where you get into trouble.

no shims, just put in the yellow-white-yellow spring and report back rpm, dont change anyhting else, it should raise it right up.

the stock spring does it don. right on the money. do u think having 192 studs and weighing 180 fully dressed had anything to do with it or is the motor tired 6246 miles, thanks again.

home bored today so took cluches off to clean while i had the primary off i took one weight out and weighed it. 8dn20 with 4.5 in both holes and it weighed 52.5. according to tech page 8dn20 weigh 42.09 empty which add 9 should be 51.09. am i still ok wondering if that may be why i had to go to stock spring

sometimes the rivets are off.Should 4.5 but mine always weighed in at 4.4 and a 3.6 I have weighs in at 3.7 grams..so .1 here or there is peanuts.
