My gas gauge always reads full, even when it is almost empty. How do I correct this? Is it an easy fix?

Sounds like the float is stuck . Take a flashlight and look in the tank. You can see the float and fuel pick up.

Try moving it up & down with a bent coat hanger gently, when the tank is near empty, if it moves or was down with the empty tank, then you will need a new sensor, just put one in mine, real easy, take the top 1/2 of the air box off, undo the support bracket that holds the steering post to the fram, take out the 4 bolts holding the sensor in the fuel tank, and pull straight out till you get to the float turn 90degrees so it is over the secondary and wiggle the float out of the hole, O'h yea need to unplug the green wire first. Hope this helps.

MY fuel gauge seems to never be accurate. Is this the general concensus? It stays full forever. then goes thu 1/2-1/4 slower. but 1/4 to empty is a blink of they eye. Is there a way to calibrate these better? I mean I know how it behaves, but it would be nice to have a beter representaion of what level of gas I have without the mental gymnastics of. I know I better start headin in now, because I am at 1/3 tank, but actually that is more like 3/16 of a tank. Any help? sorry to hijack the thread.
