can ypvs be adjusted without the test lead

98 srx600...need to adjust powervalves. how do I do it without the test lead?
 

on the 700s you turn the idle down below 900 rpm or so and the servo opens. you then mark the servo, kill the engine, and adjust keeping an eye on your marks making sure the servo doesnt move on you.
 
ok...does the servo motor pull the valve open when the sled is shut down by chance? I'm assuming this is why you make marks when it is running, and align the marks after it is shut down...

No, when motor is shut down the spring holds them closed. Idle down below 900 (asually have to fiddle with the choke to acheive this) Mark position of wheel. If wheel is twitching/jittering then cables are already to tight, slack them up and re-peat.
 
ok...I got it now...I was thinking you adjusted the clearance with the valve open..but I see it has to be fully closed.
