I was thinking of it at first. It is a 97 700 motor,Just found out more about it,the guy who had it burned down one cylinder and piston.the motor apparently got really hot..so now discussing with my stepson(Bluemonster2) that the 2 good cylinders look good to the eye and no marks on them. The heads look good as well..but since it got real hot..how do we know if the cylinders or heads got warped from the heat.As well as the crank..did it get harmed from debris and the heat.Would hate to use parts and have a failure.I would have to take it all to Associated Crank here. The guys run busuiness out of their place..They are Yamaha guys also I hear.Don't know what it would cost to have them look at everything..will have to call them I guess.
If things don't turn out,I would have to start from scratch finding parts..kinda thinking it would be cheaper buying a complete running 700..but that will be difficult to find locally. To have one shipped from the US will cost way to much shipping wise..Got some thinking to do..

Couldnt you just put a straight edge on head and make sure there is no warpage??? Know its a bit redneck engineering but heh whatever works and saves a dime. When I blew my mag cylinder due to lack of oil that baby was screaming hot. I was concerned about warpage to but thats what I did and seemed all good. Believe there is a how to part in service manual to on putting sandpaper on bench and sanding out slight warps. That would be least of my worries. I would be more concerned about the crank bearings being buggered up from getting hot. Be checking that for sure

yeah you could probably place the heads on a sheet of glass to see if it wobbles..but cylinders is what I am concerned about if I would use them in the conversion...crank could be toast anyways..everything cost money today, don't want to end up wasting time and money if possible.
