RPM gauge never moves.

Im not geting RPM has been this way since I got the Sled MM700 year 99

I replaced the hood harness because it was melted.
the sled does not have a key so it runs with the ignition un-pluged in by the fuel tank (is a square 7 wire plug) bypassed.

does not having the ignition pluged in make the gauges not work? i know my heated grips do not work?

my lights work and tailights but no RPM please help just rebuilt the engine and cant tell what RPM to tune the CARBS>

I did check grounds. noting wrong there and no more pinched or melted wires that i could see?

I am not an expert by ANY means but can you just splice your key through an re plug the seven pin connector back in, I know that the key had 3 selections off on and on with warmers that would explain why your warmers don't work if possible maybe see if you can get your hands on a key switch or even a factory one from yamaha.

key switch unplugged will make the tach not work, get a new switch and youll be good to go.
