Here it is, a bit long but would like opinions.. My buddy and I went riding today and I took my 700 Venture out because of the longer track and we just got a ton of snow here. We got back to my place after and were toying around with clutching on the venture because it didnt seem right.. Well out of the blue I said lets take the clutch off my Viper and see what happens. I remembered for some reason that it would fit on the 700 Venture.. Spring colors were different of course but she fit so on it went. Well took that Venture for a rip and holy crap what a difference!! She pulled like never before. My buddies 600 Dragon was having trouble keeping with me.. He could not belive the difference nor could I.. I was wondering if there would be any problems with leaving it on there? It is a stock Viper clutch out of 2002 and the venture is a 1999.. Did not change the secondary clutch only the primary.. Still cant beleive the difference..wow..
I know nothing about clutching and if it can stay on I will need to buy another for the Viper.. anyone have one for sale..lol..

well Cam if you don't know anything about clutching, you should not be into sledding.lol. Tell us what weights are in both primaries and the springs. The weight profiles and the rivets.Did you notice at all what the engagement and wot rpm was on the Venture or did you just pin it and ride with a great big grin....Investigate and put the same set up in the other clutch..I should of raced you with the XTCP 700 Piped 1.5 lug track today.I was Catwalking it all day long in the deep snow..

I will check the setup for your sleds, but remember that Venture used to be a 600 and now has a 700 installed. Was that primary on it from the original 600??or did you change that when you swapped motors..

It was changed when motors were changed. I have both clutches. The Viper clutch is black spring with yellow and white.. The other is black spring with pink, green, pink on it.. Dont know the weights ect..lol.. I was out in Morris today and headded west after.. Holy crap the snow is deep out there.. After switching out the clutches I am now able to lift the skis up on that little Venture.. I was amazed by the difference.. I did buy the sled for my girlfriend to have and ride but it is a fun sled to ride, especially now..lol... She will kill me if she finds out I am messing with it..lol..

STOCK 02 Viper ER: 8EK weights(40.39 g) + 3.6 g out/4.5 g inner=48.49 g
Stock 99 Venture 700-8CH weights(36.71g) + 3.6 g out/4.5 g inner=44.81 g
Stock 99 Venture 600-8DG weights(35.65 g) + 3.6g out/4.5 g inner= 43.75 g
should lose rpm with the Viper setup since it is heavier..

Yes engagements stayed the same.. no change other than the top end and bottom end seemed alot better. My buddies GPS was reading us at 96 mph.. That sled did not do that before.. Maybe 90 if lucky..

I can raise the ski's on the XTC 700 right up to the sky,you won't believe it till you see it..All the hill climbs today the skis are never down and on top Catwalk her for another 50 feet before I drop down..put some pipes on that 700 and watch it raise the ski's

Did not loose any RPM whatsoever.. Thats what we thought would happen. Figured it would fall flat on its face..but didnt..

I couldn't go that fast in the deep snow..your GPS is out of whack for sure.I am pushing a lot more horses then your Venture..mind you I am pointing up to much..so maybe that is the reason..lol

you must be on smooth ice then.In this snow your rpm's go down due to the traction..Cam/ Viper adict said:Did not loose any RPM whatsoever.. Thats what we thought would happen. Figured it would fall flat on its face..but didnt..

We came up the river from Morris and all the way to the ice shacks by the Rat river junction.. My partner said I was spraying so much water at him because I was leading.. Head out morris way and then west.. tons of snow.. We want to head to Carman tommorrow.. Apparently they got so much snow that guys are saying they keep getting their sleds stuck..lol..

sure why not,it may of course change when it gets colder out..watch the rpm's..if you keep it on to next year and run in -20 or so..expect it to change some...she may over rev alot.keep an eye on it .Set you clutching on a day when it is around -10 to -20 to get good results, and then your set.

with the XTC we set the rpm for 8800 with the pipes, but today being warmer she only ran 8200 wot..on a colder day I will pic up a lot more speed.

I will have to check that out,I cannot see there being water anywhere.I have ridden my SRX 3-4 years back on a April 7 on a 7C day on the Red River totally bare ice,all the snow was melted down and did not hit water anywhere..Cam/ Viper adict said:We came up the river from Morris and all the way to the ice shacks by the Rat river junction.. by the way that spring in the viper clutch is correct y-w-y.The one in the Venture is wrong.Should be a p-p-p spring..thers your problem...
