16 mm rollers with Heel Clickers?

Can you run the 40-10 Heel Clickers with the 16 mm rollers? I thought that I read someplace that your supposed to use 15 or 15.6 mm only......
 
No, the washers on the heel bolt will conflict with the roller. Even with 15mm rollers, I had to file almost half of the washers to make them clear the rollers.
 
you can use them. what you do is instead of using washers, go to the hardware store and get regular allen bolts to thread into the heel. Then get a nut to thread onto it. The nut will not interfere with the roller. if you need to add washers after that, you put them between the nut and allen bolt. They will clear the roller. I would keep an extra set loaded up heavy for moving the sled around in the spring and fall, on off trailers and into storage.
15.6 rollers will give you full shift out before the heal starts working against you. It will raise the engagement so I always used the grey spring with this setup and loaded up the middle hole

that's interesting, and a different approach from what is commonly taught here. I'll have to give that a try for comparison

you will need to check for your belt clearance as the bigger roller will tighten it up and make you "grease" the belt also. the nuetral spacing on the clutch will become less and it isnt always good...as the weight is becoming the limiting factor as to how far the sheaves can come back open.
It wouldnt matter if you use the red spring or the grey spring as they both have the same preload rate of 230lb, so the engagement wont change because of the spring but because of the roller size, the larger roller will increase engagement speed and also raise the shift rpm, however.... it will apply LESS force to the weights.

I would suggest you stick to the 15.6mm rollers or the 15mm rollers. The 14.5 rollers make it hard to hook up as the power is too explosive and very hard to hook up with no matter how many studs, the 15-15.6mm make it way easier to clutch the sled as well.
 
Grease the belt? Do you mean the belt will be smeared on the clutch surfaces or did I misunderstand that?
 
the term "greasing the belt" is from having not enough belt side clearance and it basicly smears the faces with melted belt material and makes the clutch not grab very well, its the black left over residue from melting the belt on the sheave faces.

The larger the rollers the more it holds the sheave faces closer to the belt.
