Got a enticer 340 for my boy looking to put a round slide carb on take off the junk butter fly carb. Think a 32mm off a polaris 488 fan would work? Prob have to find a dif carb boot.
 
Ya, I wouldn't call that butterfly carb "junk". They were good in their day for lower powered sleds. Are you having trouble with it?
 
No it works fine just was thinking a little more tuneablity. Hell that thing starts on one less pull than my red heads most of the time
 
There are some posts on here from guys that did the swap. Generally this was to get more power for racing and wasn't the only change made. If that is what you are looking for I would just do a search. CB Performance (2000SRX) has shared some of his info and may be a good resource. There are others as well.

If you want a reliable trail - back yard sled, I would stay with the butterfly.
 
I am happy with the stock butterfly carb on my 340 Excel 3, never a problem with it, easy on gas and very reliable.
I just wish the butterfly carbs worked as good on my my other 2 sleds, an Srv 540 and a 485 Phazer.
 
Dumping any of these stock butterfly systems means eliminating oil injection. May not be an issue for many guys and/or many situations but for most it's another headache that is a bitch to make right. To me (I'm far from being alone here) the addition of a non OEM carb and elimination of oil injection on a trail sled is a huge negative on it's value to me as a usable machine. I wouldn't want one setup that way.

Right. Carb to pump. Round slide carbs don't have a provision to operate the cable so how are you going to make it work???. There are ways around it but all are just more headaches than they're worth.

The sled we are talking about is a low powered ~30 year old sled with almost zero value.
My 3 doughters ( 12 , 14 , 16 ) can mix the fuel/oil to theirs sleds !
It is no problem mixing fuel/oil just like it would be to a MX-bike or a chain saw or a.....
I can not see the problem.

Y can't i buy a split cable for a singal carb with oil pump cable? I dont see the prob.

Yea, good luck there. (lol)

I'm sure Lasse has a line on them but seeing that they are old sleds with junk carbs that have no value I don't know why anyone would spend the time working on one............


I'm done with these dumb assed toss parts in the trash threads.

You guys can do what you want. There are way to many bs parts changer mechanics here without any idea of how to make things work right.
