Thanks for posting the old brochure. I love reading through those things.
I remember having that very brochure and wanting that sled in the worst way. Guess I still wouldn't really mind having one even with that horrific color.
I don't know what it was, but the 90's had a thing about what I call "Easter colors".
This is the machine that should have come out in 94 but with a hydraulic brake and a lightweight triple.

Hydraulic brakes would be a very nice upgrade. Something else I might do in the off season.
Thanks for all the feedback
Based on feedback I decided to buy this sled. I pick it up tomorrow morning and with the couple inches of snow we're supposed to get tonight I'm looking forward to riding tomorrow.
Main considerations were feedback about reliability of this sled and motor and condition of sled. Only 2050 miles, all stock, well maintained and garage kept. Amazingly under the hood looked almost as shiny and clean as the outside of the sled. Also in my price range - $1000.
Main concern is bumpy / stiff ride and maneuverability, but most of our rides are on the bay of Green Bay which is usually smooth and aren't longer than a couple of hours. There were also several suggestions here for mitigating ride which I'll investigate, thank-you very much, plus suggestions for swapping out skis for plastic skis and suspension for improved ride, which I figure I can do if / when needed.
Thanks again everyone. I'll start a new post later on with how it goes.

I had 95 vmax 600 and 96 vmax xtc 600, my brother hah the 95 mx 583. we would have to go in and have another cocktail while he sat outside and tried to get his started. quicker and faster then the 583, but not as good as mileage, 10-12 weather you ride it nice or hard. both had over 7000 miles when we got ride of them, great sled for the price. have fun
Had a good ride this weekend. Real happy with the sled. Will agree its quicker and faster than the 583 and also much easier to pull over. I didn't think steering or ride was all that bad, but again, the only other sleds I've ridden are the Ski Doo's so I don't have a lot to compare too. This summer I plan to go through all the suspension settings on all 3 sleds to learn how to adjust them so next winter I can try some fine tuning on all of them. The 583 sits real low and when pushed down all the way barely comes back up a couple of inches..... So that is why I don't think I can find any fault in Vmax compared to it.
Thanks again everyone for all your good input and advice.
As a new (to me) Yamaha owner I'll definitely be back with more posts (and no doubt questions) in the future!
