Angry Wisconsin snowmowbiler???

If I understand your kid's ages correctly, I might be more worried of the affects of pulling the studs.

I can think of more than a few occasions during my early years on a fiji L/C twin what would have happened if I did not have studs.

Just a thought.

Enjoy.

I think 144 up the center is probably a bit excessive.....and it's the XLT triple. Probably only good for about 85 HP.

ditch that dam poo and put em on an srx. screw it, teach them how not to full throttle it, put the wrenches down. that way they wont outgrow it to soon, and it will hold its value better than some old poo. then you guys can ride instead of wrench. i think all the 500-600's are more expensive than an srx is because the used srx's have all been beat on, modified and blown up and rebuilt. oh yeah, have that son of yours use his fancy phone to help, look up parts, research, ask ty guys questions! that phone could just be what brings you two closer. that's what really matters, sleds come and go and are easily replaced. your kids will be grown and gone before you blink an eye. by the way, that 500 of mine uses more gas than my 700. sell the poo, get em an srx!!! this aint PY!!! have a good one

Wait.....what? If anyone is getting an SRX it's dear old Dad.
I'd never put them on an SRX this early, but throttle modulation is definitely the key. Even with the poo.
Funny thing. My buddy with the 2000 SXR gets much worse mileage than I do in my 2001. I'm so much smoother than he is. He's a bit heavier than I am but I don't think there is any mid throttle on his. He's either got it mashed to the bars, or has it released.
I know the 500s are thirsty. My buddy's ex wife had a 500 for a year that I probably rode it more than she did.

Our 94 Indy 5 efi gets about 14-15 mpg. Had a roomie that had an 89 500, and it was maybe a mpg or 2 less than our efi next gen not wedge 500. Now the 488 fan Indy trail w have gets like 10 mpg.

I'm actually looking to sell the trail and the 500 efi and get a nice used rs venture for next year.

Well.....after about a dozen snags, the Poo is finished and ready to go. Just in time for it to rain.....
Got a bar pad off a 96 Ultra that is Polaris' version of what is on my SXR as a final touch. Not the crappy stock velcro abortion that is stock. That Mechanic in a Bottle from another thread is the shizz. First, or second pull starts now. Still considering pulling the studs, but I can do that any time over the next, what, 8 months?
Overall, the machine turned out GREAT.
Even though this is a Yamaha forum, I wish I could post before and after pics. It's REALLY that dramatic of a difference.
Bummed there is no snow, but almost can't wait to start in on the already pretty blue one. Gonna pop on the skidplate, and clean her up and make it SHINE. With how well the poo turned out cosmetically, the Yammy should just about glow in the dark. ;-)
