Yamaha triple fuel mileage, SX, SXR, SRX, Viper

jdviper: youll get alot better then that once you get off the flipper, its new to you so you get addicted to the power and tend to hold onto it more. Plus, its late in the year, wet, heavy snow eats up mpg. that sled should still get 12-13mpg pretty easily.

regualr srx can get 13-14mpg no problem, vipers about the same. mpg has alot to do with conditions you ride in and the clutching/gearing set up.
 
Any of my SRX's get better mpg than the girlfreind on sxr. I am ALOT harder on the throttle. I get ahead away then dink around in feilds/hill climbing until she catches up. On average I have 6-7 more miles (or more) on odometer each outting. She is borderline out of gas and I will have at least 1/4 tank left.
 
We have a variety of milage one our fleet of sleds. I can not list a specific mpg but I know for a fact, our Viper with 8 tooth drivers stock clutch and gears uses the least amount of fuel and oil per ride. Next is the 2000 SXR 121" with turks clutching and gearing. Next is the 2001 SXR 128" with OEM clutching and gearing, near tie is to the 01 SXR is the 93 Phazer 136". And finally the worst milage of all is the 2001 600 DLX with Turks clutching. Odd how the lowest hp get the worst milage and the highest hp gets the best. These assumptions are not from a one or two trail ride readings, but rather a consistant fuel fill for many years and thousands of miles. Al
 
The SRX's always seemed to get the best mileage of all of them on the early TY rides.
 
I have pulled anywheres from 10-17 mpg with my SRX6, usually around 12-13........the '93 phazer I used to have would get about 16 mpg on average and I did pull 20 once up north where you just cruise at like 40 mph
 
17 mpg is the best I've recorded, on good trails at normal trail speeds with some playing around on the lakes. Put on 170 miles using exactly 10 gal. My speedo is off thou but I'd say 15-16 easy.
 
2000 Completely stock SRX gets me 9.5 - 11 MPG. I ride with a 2003 Arctic Cat 800 EFI who usually has to put in 2 - 3 litres less than I do when we fill up at the gas station. Something not right there.
 
I used to get well over 100 miles per tank when my stock Viper was new. Now the sled has 9000 miles on it and I am looking for gas when I hit 70 miles on the odometer. I do have a deeper lug Cobra track now and I geared down a tooth so I don't think that is helping the cause.

The SRX's I ride with get much better as did my former redhead 700 stocker. I won't even mention the 4 strokes..............

when I here of mileage like this on a srx, two things, are your powervalves, clean, working, installed upside down and, have you installed a track without relieving the interference issue with the guards.

I could never, ride my srx hard enough to hit 11mpg. you have some major drag or some major exhaust valve issues.

X2 on somethings hankey there. Imperial gallons? Those bigger or smaller than U.S. gallon? I get better than that with any of my SRX (ones a pretty well stock other than longtravel 2000 700) even if I am busting trails all day long.

This is what I am thinking. I hit 8,500 RPMS so valves must be opening. I clean them twice a year. No drag with the sled as I need to hit the brake as the Cat in front of me can stop without brakes. Track rolls when on stand. Track adjusted properly. Never hard on the flapper. Plugs are tanned brown so not sure what gas mileage sucks so bad. Also driving a lot with temps over 32 F so that might have some effect. Thoughts?

Ski alignment? Leak? I would think warmer temps might rob MPG but I put 144 on last friday. temp range 32-40 degrees and still had just under 1/8th of a tank.

I never use my gas gauge as a source of how many MPG's I get. I fill up the tank at the gas station, reset odometer, ride, fill up at gas station and compare how much gas it takes to odometer reading. Like I said, it's close to a 800 EFI but should be better. Clutches are cold to the touch, new belt, big track defection but no racheting, bearings are new, track rolls nicely to a stop, PV's are all opening and clean, no pull thrus, no apparent gas leaks from fuel pump, fuel inlet at gas tank, cap, or breather tube.

Gas mileage sucks!
