We are going to have a summer project contest. Here's how it is going to work.
The contest will run from may 1st through october 31st. To enter the contest start a thread here in the working log on or after may 1st. put "summer project contest" in parenthesis in your thread title along with the title of your project. From there just start your project and post your updates. After october 31st we will open a poll for the TY members to vote on a winner. This contest is open to all TY members. The prize is still to be determined at this time. there is a 1 project per member limit for the contest.
good luck and happy building

I have something in mind.
I'm in, I have 2 sleds here that need some TLC and for a prize maybe you can put a TY member jacket and hat
Does it have to be a snowmobile? Or can it be anything?

New motor, Handle bar riser, Clutching, new paint and graphics.. and well probably a whole bunch of goodies as the project goes as we all know it progresses into bigger things..lol.. Also doing a 99 Venture with 700 redhead motor. Needs to go a little faster and get into deep powder.. New track and we will see what else..lol..

my project won't be as big as yours Cam,so I won't even enter it.I should have mine done beginning of may and then will fog motors and store away and enjoy summer.Don't want to work on sleds during the next 5 months after this..other things to do.
I have some projects in store for the old girl, but I'm sure that it pales in comparison to what most of you guys are doing.
Most of what I want to do you guys have no doubt already done.
All I really plan on doing is cleaning her up, putting the skid plate on. Unsure on painting the vents. Plan on pulling the rear skid and going through it. Maybe shock rebuilds and/or re-valves. Or.....Ohlins if I can get a steal on a set(although I'm put off some that they don't make them anymore). Adjustable transfer rods. Likely a new track. New rubber ski bumpers, ski savers & triple points.(I'll keep my old carbides on until we get some REAL snow)
Turk's clutching, and the stopper mod. I guess I COULD always re-gear too since everything is already going to be apart anyway. IF it's worth my while. I have no intention of doing the head gasket mod.
Guess it's still quite a project though.....
Is the re-gear REALLY worth it with the clutching, but no head gasket mod?
I ride 85% in the twisties, but I'd hate to lose any top end on long field runs, lakes or rivers. It's already not the longest legged lady in the neighborhood.....

Enter.. Its all in fun.. Went to the 2014 sled show at exhibition park friday eve.. Those brp chassis are real sweet. They are useing KYB shocks..I also have to say the polaris chassis with the walker evans shocks are nice as well..The polaris Assault might be in my pack soon.. I really like the feel of it and it is a great sled for boon docking and climbing..

I will be entering with my 74 SM292F that I am getting ready to restore.
staggs65 I have been working on my project for 2 1/2 years and I've posted some pictures in working log already. My sled is still completely disassembled . Will I be able to enter this contest?

I will be stretching my 02 mountain max from a 141 to a 151, tunnel extension and extrovert drivers. I picked up a set of viper spindles and steering arms and if budgets allow will be swapping over to a set of fabcraft viper arms too. If not the fabcraft arms will have to wait for next summer. The track already got pushed off for 2 seasons.

if you have a project that is started but not completed you can still enter it. you will however need to start a new thread following the instructions in my first post.

Keep your eyes peeled for a good used set of ski's. Put the tripple points on the nicer of the 2 sets. Early/Late season run the skis with reg carbides. You can change the skis in about 5 minutes with a milk crate, 9/16 socket/wrench!
