I agree that Alum under the right circumstance and heated treated nature can become extremely strong. I work for a company that builds storefronts and the wind loads and stresses that our alum store front are tested for are quite high in some cases. You really need to take a look at the product at hand and the abuse that someone can put any product under. Anything can be broke. Then what do most say, “ That’s a piece of crap”…I say look at the end use. If you don’t feel its what you want fine buy something else but what gives you the right without having one in your hands and properly testing it that it is indeed junk. One final statement, sleds are not air born missiles that can be tossed around without having some kind of damage after abusing them. If you bought a new truck and decided to jump some ravine and you break the axel…well that must be junk too.

Mr.Sled, I have alotta respect for you man, and you've provided us with a great site, but I have got to respectfully disagree with you here.
if you're not upgrading them for strength so you can toss them around, what are you upgrading them for?
personally I don't jump, so it's not me, aslong as mine are stiff enugh to keep the chassis from bunching up I'm happy, but people do launch them, and SRXRULES is one of them.
to spend $500 on a set of trailing arms only to have them fold your first ride of the season is BS, nomatter how you cut it.
again, I mean no disrespect man
Rules....let me bow down to you buddy....you seem to have all the right answers....your such an asset to this site. The trailing arms have a warranty, dude if you don't like them don't buy them, but you have no right to bad mouth their product, you have never even had them to destroy........I give up on this...you dont understand my point. I dont care what you purchase I can break it too if thats what my intentions are.
Junior, no problem...I take no offense to this, just get tired of these people that rip others products.....no one and I mean no one has all the right answers.

Sled....When I said aluminum Trailing arms are Junk....Did I say CB Perf arms? Are they the only company that makes aluminum arms? I think not. I Have ran a WELL Known Alm Arm and There was No warranty and they did fold very easy. Now, I have about 8 trips to the Mountains on this set of Cr-Moly arms and Yes, they are "slightly" bowed, but they are not junk. I never got to make 2 trips on ANY other set of arms I have run. Maybe that means nothing? Alot of the problem here revolves around one person, and I'm not the only one that thinks that way. Have a nice day. ===SRXSRULE===

The "one person"
Rules, I agree with you. This does stem around one person. I am tired of him pushing product every time someone asks a question. It's like nobody can ask a question with out the "answer" being followed by "you can buy them from us". I am tired of it and I have e-mailed Tom about it. I know you and I are not the only ones that feel this way. I hope Tom talks to him about it. I don't think being a sponsor gives you the right to muck up this site w/ spam. That's why you get a banner at the top. Hey kid, if someone wants to buy from you they will click on your banner and call you!!!

Too much contradiction here
I guess you guys missed the point, the reason I even posted on this one.
First of all Rules did take a direct shot at the CB guys. 2000 posted their aluminum arms and he came up with the blanket statement "aluminum folds like butter" go back and read it.
Then he makes the statement to 2000, " you must be smokin some good $hit, and he is a punkass kid". Therefore, he has met with 2000, and Rules is a "respected guru/member" and makes posts like that? At least Junior was smart enough say agree that aluminum can be treated to the same strength as CM. Which also, disagrees with Rules statement.
Then Rules goes on to tell me about MY aluminum trailing arms? Why don't I provide a set for him to test/abuse? I don't make/sell trailing arms. He also states he knows me/who I am and I've never been in the mountians! Huh, I guess this picture in my office of my sled at 11,000 ft. must be a fake. The fact is he obviously doesn't know me and again is making non-fact based statements.
The FACT that one or a few guys out of the millions of snowmobilers can damage every trailing arm he puts on his sled through known abuse means what? Very little.
Then we had someone make a statement about doing a durability test in a press. Well when someone collects all the aftermarket arms and wants to do that test that would be great info to have.
As far as the bolt thing goes, again, people ran off on the wrong tangent. Do I know that you can drill a hole in a bolt and weaken it? Yes. Do I know that it would change the point at which the snowmobile structure fails? Of course. Would I put it in print so anyone one could read it and or attempt to do it? Not a chance in hell.
The FACT is that unknowing people read this web page as a source of information. When you put things like that in writing someone unknowing may do it, or do it wrong, think about it.
The FACT is, that aluminum trailing arms of MANY manufacturers will hold up fine in 99.9999999% of snowmobiling applications and have for years. Whether or not any of them will stand up to you cheating death while jumping off a cliff or whatever is a NON ISSUE.
The ISSUE is, if in fact Rules is the stand-up guy/Guru, he shouldn't be taking public shots (which he did) at another member and making statements to the affect he's smoking $hit, or is a punkass. So at that point there IS a public apology necessary. If there are issues with 2000 posting in the wrong areas thats something that needs to be taken up with Mr. Sled privately.
In closing, if you don't know me personally, don't take a shot at me. My accomplishments with Yamaha products over the years are well noted in the Yamaha community, not necessarily on this web page, and I don't need to explain myself.
