Anti ratchets

Hey fellas. I am going to be installing anti ratchet drivers on my 98 srx. I have never done this before, what is all involved in this job, and what are the best to run with a 1 inch track with 196 chisels/ice pix mixed? I have lots of traction on ice but track ratchets pretty bad now and I don't want my track super tight to eliminate this. Is this install a difficult job?

I have a set of 9 tooths on a cat shaft, they need to be pressed off. If your going to run the stock skid in the stock location, you will need to either cut with a knife or turn down on a lathe the tips, I think I took off about a 1/4in off on mine I had in my viper to clear.
shipped to canada would be 140, I'll just cut the shaft so they will go in a flat rate box. or if you have a us shipping address, 110 shipped. they are avid drivers, made for skidoo.
I used wahls on myviper. They worked good but I like the avids because they have a relief cut in them so the upright on the clip doesn't dig into the plastic.

I used the 9 tooth kimpex non slips that royal dis sells.They slide against the origanals so you only have to remove the outers to install.They do have to be timed properly and take the axle to sombody with a lathe to knock 1/4 to 3/8 off the tips or they will hit on the front axle as mentioned.

Use 9 tooth vs 8 tooth, 8 tooth greatly decreases top end and creates unwanted bend in the track increasing drag, robbing horse power

9T antis

I agree with snoprokid. That it is more benificial to run 9T than 8T antis:

When you install smaller drive sprockets; the friction the track has when it's pulled around the drivshaft/sprockets increases. In addition you will get a less favorable "track angle" at the front by going down a tooth.
Other than this; is that you could run your track looser when installing antis. Saving your hyfaxes from wearing...

I run 9T Whal Bros sprocket. I have also gotten a mechanic of mine to modify my front pivot arm to become more like an Artic-Cat in regards to the upper tube.

He had done this modification on his SRX back in the days. It works very well.
Then you have good clearance for the antis' lugs or tips, so they don't come in conflict with the upper tube part of the front pivot arm. Then you also don't have to cut down the tips of your newly acquired antis. I'm positive that you also can run 10T antis with this mod/setup if you're planning to go for a smaller lugged track then I have, e.g. like just the stock lug height. I have Ripsaw 1.5 and then I need to stick to the 9Ts. But I'm not sure about the clearance when you're studding a 1" or 1.25" track? Do you guys have some more info on this? What size sprockets fits when studding?

Here is what i use now.It wont win any speed runs but will never jump a cog with any setup on ice.lol Have the hole thing trued on a lath and use the old style lockers on the outsides.
