Got bored today and got to thinking.....
What particular Yamaha sled was it that turned you all into a "Yamaha person"?
It wouldn't have to be something that you owned, maybe something that you lusted after as a kid looking through the trade rags.

For me I think it was the SR-V.
I still remember ads referencing the landing gear of a jet fighter, and thought that was the coolest thing I had ever seen when I was a kid.
From then on I was hooked.

What got you guys?

'97 V Max 700 SX.Was kind of a cat guy up til then and even almost bought one the Yamaha dealer had taken in on trade, but as soon as I fired up that demo on the floor I was hooked. It's all sweet triple history now.

My dads prestige 440 when i was 12 been riding yamaha ever since.
Best looking sled vmax 540 or srx 440.
Loved the pop up headlight

I was 20 years old and was riding a leftover 2000 poolaris 700 xc which was a pretty good sled to me, but had a couple buddies that had srx 700s and a 700 sxr. I loved the sound of those triples and they looked so sweet. I knew I had to get one someday!

firs twas an enticer 250, though I would have riden anything and I granaded the motor, installed a 400 ccw.
later my vmax4 motor sold me, then my 98 srx blew me away, what a motor, fuel mileage and speed. I can put up with alot of junky parts, but without a reliable motor, the sled is junk from the start.

I always remember, when I was growing up we were a cat family. But my neighbors had a 292 that never broke down, and my cousins had a 338 that was also indestructable. When I got back into sleddin' I heard a 700sx and was sold.

My Uncles had a Mercury dealership. When I was very young somehow my Dad bought new Mercs every year until they finally stopped production. Then in 1977 he bought a pair of new 1978 Exciters. They we awsome. From then on we only ran Yamaha. Those 78 Excters were around for quite awhile, but still they were not as relaible as the SXR's and Viper we have now. Al

my first sled bought with my paper route money was a snojet 292 with a yammie engine. I had just about every brand from one time to another after that. A 2000 SRX made me yammie for life after that.

my 78 440 exciter really impressed me then went to an 81 SRX 440.Thought I was riding a Cadillac at that point,never looked back.Had 2 Ski-doos before that,a 76 Olympic 340 and 78 440 TNT..they both sucked,not impressive enough for me.

My mom's first snowmobile in 1969 was a 292 Snojet with a yamaha motor.

98 SRX. Bough it when I was 16 for $650 bucks, had a blown track and 10k miles, was in good shape though. Put a used track on it and thought Id have it for a season before I could get something newer. However I fell in love the second I rode it, had the sled for 4 years and 4000 miles without a single mechanical issue. This sled and my 05 Yz125 I had have made me blue blooded for life.

My dad bought a brand new 1979 exciter 440, I was 8 years old and had a polaris tx 250 and never wanted to ride it again after riding that exciter. and road yamies ever since.

The theme is, as with religion, and beer, get them while they are young. This is why I could never understand yamaha marketing, not having a product that is aimed tward teenage riders and the 10-15 rider. They need a 40hp 100in tracked cheap light sled like the old bravo or enticers.

87 Phazer LT, later confirmed by 97 sx 700 and 98-02 srx 600/700.
The 4 stroke thing is making me a non-Yamaha person
