Care to share any set up details, Tony? Engine mods? Jetting? Clutching? Etc. I am running my completely stock 02 this year along with my wife's SRX w/ported cylinders and shaved heads. Would be nice to have something to compare to. Thanks!

SCOTT SLED WAS PHAT TODAY. GONNA TAKE JETTING DOWN SOME. I AM USEING 15in TRACK , SLED IS A STOCK 2000. REAL GOOD CLUTCH SET-UP. STOCK GEARING. 150 POUND DIVER. WHAT ARE YOUR TIMES. 3;16 (yammie tony)
Are these times in the 1/4 mile? I've always been interested in tar racing snowmobiles, just have never got into it.

Hey Tony, sorry if I get a little long winded here but wanted to give as much info as I could think of.
02 SRX -
Stock, 15" track, stock suspension lower (almost) as much as possible
stock clutching
140 mains, 52.5 pilots.
Yestrerday it ran:
11.298 @ 110.35 1.535 60"
11.354 @ 110.83 1.573
11.395 @ 108.55 1.545
11.399 @ 108.89 1.547
11.285 @ 109.81 1.506
I know I have a lot to gain with clutching on that one. Spinning the track some on launch (the track on the sled is about 4-5 years old so not super soft).
00 SRX - 10.6" track (on its 3rd season now, about 60-70 runs), modified stock rear suspension lowered as much as possible, ported cylynders (not sure how much), shaved heads (just found that out this past week, about 10 psi more than my 02, 135 vs 125, 0.054" squish) 89a-10 weights w/2. 4 in first hole 4.5 in "tip" (total weight 55.9g) , YSY primary, 53/47 w/red @ 60, 24/37 gearing, 143.8 mains, 55 pilots. Sled has run a best of 10.21 and 10.25 @ 124-125mph. Not consistently, though. Engagement is 3100 (easy for my wife to stage, and less likely to spin the track). 8500 down track, not sure exactly what happens with RPM's at launch as I do not have a play back tach.
Both sleds are stock weight, 720 with rider for hers, 735 with rider for mine.
On my 02, I'll be put loaded 8DN weights for next time. Can't do much else with clutching as I don't have anymore parts. I would like some input on jetting. New England Dragway physical elevation is 90' above sea level.
Also trying to pin down the jetting on the 00. I think I am pretty close, but any advice would be appriciated.
Thanks,
Scott

We ran at stock 99 srx on tar last year with a 170 pound rider and ran 10.7 with it using h/c. And still had lots of tuning I wanted to do to it.

SCOTT I DON,T KNOW HOW YOU CAN USE A 3100 ENGAGEMENT. WOW !!. EASY FOR WIFE, I KNOW. ANYWAYS DROP YOUR SUMMER TAR JETTING TO 138.8. I HAVE USED THIS ON MY 2000 BACK TO WHEN THIS SLED WAS DYNOED. SAFE TO 40 DEGREES. I USE A REAL AGGRESSIVE CLUTCH SET-UP. I GET OUT OF THE HOLE AS HARD AS I CAN. NO HOPING, WORKS REALLY GOOD WHEN TRACK IS SPRAYED. SAME AS YOU. I HAVE A STOCK SKID SLAMED DOWN REAL HARD. I USE 8BU-00 BUT HAVE ANOTHER SET-UP WITH 8BU-10.55 grams seems to be the sweet spot for srx,S. MY 2000 IS STOCK WEIGHT, AND I THINK PRETTY CLOSE. I DO THINK I WILL PICK UP SLIGHTLY MORE, BUT NOT ALOT. GET JEFFS (staggs) STUFF AND DO MORE TESTING, THOSE ARE GREAT FOR RACING WHAT HE HAS. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Great info, Tony! Thanks! When you talk about jetting, is that for the stock SRX? How much more jet would my wife's SRX need? 1 size? 2?

The '00 usually runs 1.45-1.50 60' times and many times has run 1.42 with this set up. This year (we have run 3 days already) I seem to be getting some track spin where last year I never had. Track surface is always excellent at New England Dragway, they spray through out the day, every race day.

USE THAT JETTING SPEC IN YOUR 02. BESIDES THE DCS IS THERE, BUT YOU WILL BE FINE. MY 2000 IS STOCK, BUT MOTOR HAS BEEN BLUEPRINTED/ MATCHED. I ALSO USE A REPROGRAMMED CDI THAT CAME RIGHT FROM YAMAHA RACE DEPARTMENT BACK IN 2000. THE SRX YOU HAVE PORTED SEEMS VERY CLOSE THATS PRETTY STRONG TIMES. I WOULD TAKE IT YOUR JETTING CLOSE IN THAT SLED. I THINK YOUR 60 F.T. COULD BE BETTER WITH A 10.5 TRACK, WELL HERE A EXAMPLE, WE RUN A 98 700 SX IMPROVER (red head), HIS TIMES ARE VERY SIMILAR TO YOURS, BUT HE HAS BEEN IN THE 1.3 60. AGAIN VERY AGGRESSIVE CLUTCH SET-UP. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I will try that jetting in the 02. I think the 00 is close on jetting, maybe can go down a notch or 2. Yes, I agree, the 60' could be better. I am not sure my track is good enough now to get much more out of it. It's taking me a long time to get it dialed in, but I have learned a lot along the way. Help from guys like you and the others is invaluable ! Thanks! The first day we ran the 00, it barely broke into the 10's and now it has run 10.80's with room for more. Amazing sleds, these SRX's!

SCOTT I HAVE BEEN AROUND TAR RACING NOW FOR ABOUT 6 YEARS. MOSTLY HELPING GUYS AND THAN FINALLY SETTING UP MY 2000 SRX THAT I HAD USED FOR ICE AND GRASS DRAGS SINCE NEW. TAR RACING A DIFFERENT ANIMAL. THROW EVERYTHING AWAY EXCEPT YOUR 60 f.t. , THERE IS WHERE YOUR RUN MAKES YA OR BREAKS YA. KEEP IN TOUCH WITH YOUR PROGRESS. YOUR SETUPS ARE CLOSE TO MINE, BUT LIKE I POSTED , I TRY TO RUN A HIGH ENGAGEMENT AS POSSIBLE. NOW NOT 7000, BUT ATLEAST 5500. 3:16 (yammie tony)
I wish I had a tar track and skis I wanna get more run time out of my piped ported sx 700. Had a guy near by that had/has 128" and skis for 400

Tony, what would you suggest for pilot jets? I have 52.5's in the '02 and 55's in the '00. We are planning to run this Sunday and I am going to rejet them on Saturday. Thanks again.
