help with adjusting power valves

I see there are two ways of adjusting power valves. One is to turn the idle down to 900 rpm and the other is to hook up a battery to open them. I don't have an extra battery but I was wondering if a battery charger will work as a good power supply without starting the engine since its all put up for the summer. Thank you.
 
I've tried the charger I have but apparently it doesn't have enough current to open the servo motor.My charger has a max of 2amp if I remember right,so consequently I wind up using a battery to hold the servo open.
 
OK thanx for the reply's. I finally got to read them tonight after having the internet down last night. Hopefully I can get the Viper all gone through this summer and be ready for the winter.
 
I believe I have the tool to do this properly. I would sell it very reasonably. Considering I don't have a PV sled anymore. Pm me if your interested

I don't remember off hand, but I thought the tool described in the service manual uses a 9 volt battery to actuate the servo. The tool I made uses aligator clips to attach to a 12 volt battery on one end, and male terminals to plug into the service connector on the other end.

The tool I make years ago to actuate CFI idle control stepper motors used a 9 volt.
