And just where in this thread does it ask your opinion on oil? As far as I can see the point here is to give some info on ethanol not start an oil debate. I'd advise against the thread crapping.

Am I missing something?

well I really enjoyed the talk about oils and ethanol, informative.I think Yamaha as a Company really care about the Products they build and the Oils they design for them.I have started back on Yamalube for the sleds last season and I find my PV's were pretty clean on my SRX.Plus their prices are cheaper then any aftermarket oils.As for Ethanol..I only use non ethanol premium,so I am not to concerned. My carbs are always clean inside.I think Ethanol should be Banned. Why would people want to use a product that draws moisture into your motors. There is a lot of Oil out there, and they should stop the Ethanol .Use the Corn to feed the people and animals instead..

I probably will be paying around $7.50 a gallon for Premium come next riding season which is insane, but what choice do I have.I know I won't be riding as much when price is that high.It will be close to $85 for fuel and oil every tank..but at least I won't be worried about Ethanol in the tank and system doing damage. If I were a lot of you guys,I would be worried about leaving gas in your tank past 7 days if it has Ethanol in it.

From what I've seen around here, non ethanol fuel is making a come back. People are starting to realize what that crap does to a vehicle. Many local gas stations have big signs out by the road advertising the 91 non ethanol fuel now. As long as there is enough demand for the non ethanol it will be available.

Saw the same thing up where we snowmobile just this past weekend. They call it recreational fuel (91 non ethanol fuel). I have not had any real problems with ethanol yet but i may try it.

can somebody tell me why this stuff is so bad for your engine? I can understand the part where it absorbs water but what else?

It absorbs the water. Period... Its like dumping a little water in with the gas. Water touching metal = oxidation. Oxidation = problems
