Not to start a debate on why these sleds can't compete with the big dogs but I would like see all the racers on here make a list on what is legal for a SRX 700 to run Stock in a sanctioned race, I always just ran the local stuff but would like to know what I'm allowed and not allowed ;)!

Thanks Andy

andy, not gonna get into these sleds competeing crap either but i can tell ya just check rules where your plain on racing. best thing to do. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Andy,

Too many variables on this one!! As Yammigod stated best bet is to check with group that is running the race. We run a fleet of srx's and have already been disqualified due to lowering sleds and running as trail stock!! Yet at other races you have guys running improvers as trail stock.

Always thought the CDI was legal to change...As long as you keep Yamaha to Yamaha

I AM DOING A 2002 SRX RIGHT NOW FOR FALL GRASS DRAGS. IT WILL FALL UNDER '' TRAIL '' BECAUSE SLED WILL BE NOT TOTALLY LOWERED BUT ENOUGH WITH IN SPEC. ALSO WILL HAVE SLIDERS, MEGABITES, FULL AIR BOX, AND LEGAL COOLDOWN. TO ME, THIS IS THE BIGGEST CLASSES AND MOST ENTRIES. ANDY TYPE OF TRACTION PRODUCT YOU RUN ALWAYS COMES FIRST. 3:16 (yammie tony)

well I have a speed track with 192 1.2 chisels for my SRX, just waiting on a wiring harness and a viper CDI box, new topend and maybe a set of air filters ;)!

Not correct. Speed track will knock you into the pro classes! I don't know if the ver harness and CDI would be legal though. I highly doubt it!

Some ISR rules are you could put a speed track on ( Camoplast 9811R etc) with chissil..You would have to go with 1.060 in length..I think its no higher than3/4" over the top of the lug of the track..I remember in some trail classes you could still use a speed track but you would have to use mega-bites or any carbide trail stud..Air filters yes..Lowered yes in Pro Classes (tied down w/cables etc) I know somewhere in the ISR book stock CDI's could be re-programed in Pro classes..But one thing is tho if run run up against a Pro F-7 Cat highly unlikely your going to beat it.Tho's were some real fast Cats..Thats why the SRX's dropped off so much..I'am these days like a keyway for the flywheel would be ok etc..Would love to set up a stocker again these days..

WHICH I THOUGHT WAS THE MOST RIDICULOUS RULE I EVER SAW IN 40 YEARS BEING AROUND SNOWMOBILE RACING. '' A SPEED TRACK BUT NO CHISELS IN TRAIL STOCK ''. PUT A 9811R ON A SNOWMOBILE THIS WINTER IN 5 '' SNOW, TELL ME HOW GOOD YOU HOOK UP. this track is for ice/ grass racing, no '' trail '' anything here !!!! AND JUST A KICKER CHISELS ARE IN WOODYS '' TRAIL '' GUIDE . ANDY AGAIN, THIS POST IS LOADED, CHECK YOUR RULES WHERE YOUR RACING. 3:16 (yammie tony)

how about more engine tweaks than anything else I have ran my sled lowerd and chiseled before with out any problems just not a grass track it was a shaved track that I ran, bought this grass/ice track over the winter for racing this summer and ice season

Like they said above, you have to check the rules for your sanctioning body. they are all different. At least post what the sanctioning body is and then guys familiar with those rules can give you better info. I have an older copy of the ISR rules on PDF. pm me your email and I'll send it to you but it may not be any good to you if your races arent ISR rules

Yeah we run ISR rules around here but with little to no teching, but there is a change coming to our province there are a couple of guys that are starting race associations here that are going to have techs at every race begining this fall, from what I was told the higher ups of the ISR organization are retiring and a new form of rules are going to intruduced ;)!

You remember that rule Tony....LOL...Tryn to remember which race that was at..?

Were back to having fun...Love it...Engine mods in stock,ya kiddin... LOL (base gaskets, balancing pistons,a little off here and there.one time I seen somwone stack a whole bunch of reed gaskets on a 700 SX like 10 per cage and got away with it.. ) LOL, I'll stop..

from my personal experience I havevseen a guy run a SRX 780 big bore, with pipes, full race porting, 38mm carbs, all aluminum front end, speed track, chisels in trail stock 700. Then this guy had the guts to walk around braggin about his trophy!!!! Personally I feel that if you have to do that to win you've got issues. Let's use some common sense here guys!!!!! In any form of racing there are guys that push the envelope. I personally would rather win by superior clutch tuning and setup than by blatently Cheating!!!!

I agree on that one...But I always stuck to professional ran ISR races..The Tech guys were key..I finished 2nd one time at a race and the tech guy back then was Pete Webb who I thought was the best still made me pull all 3 cylinder heads off and checked them..The best thing for this dude to do is get a ISR rule book and start reading..
