Polaris primary on Yamaha

I have an 03 RX will the Polaris primary just bolt on? Has anyone tried this if so how did it work out for you thanks John
 
I used to run them(P-85) in the early 90's on the old Exciters. Yes they worked great back then compared to what Yamaha had for a clutch. It wasn't until 1995 that Yamaha came out with the current YXR clutch with the current buttons. The YXR of today will outlast the Polaris by a long shot and performs better too. I wouldn't do it if I were you. What is your reasoning if I may ask?
 
I think I'll stay with the Yam primary. No need to throw money away!!!
 
You must of heard that from a Polaris guy. Yes, at one time it was the best clutch out there. Problem is, it hasn't changed much. If this is any indication. I used to pit for a Polaris racer on the ice drag circuit in the late '80's to early '90's. It's the same circuit Hauck and Knapp raced in. I knew Pat Hauck and remember him running Polaris clutches on his mod sleds. After the new YXR came out in '95 on the Vmax4, he stayed with the Yammie clutch. He admitted it worked better and lasted longer. Like I said, I ran the P-85 and also a Comet 108C back then. I was rebuilding them about every two years. I have yet to wear one of these newer generation YXR clutches out. Personally I like the Heavy Hitter weights in the YXR clutch. I believe Simons CPR has a good setup for your RX-1.
 
if you are looking for the best all around clutch that will LAST, run the Yamaha with a sticky belt. The only way the P-85 is better is on top end, as it is slightly more efficient than the Yamaha in the second half of its shift curve.
 
Just ordered super tip weights for the Yam primary I'll stick with what works!!!
 
srxspec can get you those weights along with the rest of his setup, i have heard it really works well. You should send him a pm.
 
I never found any better top end on the Polaris clutch even though...YES...it does have overdrive. I have also tried the overdrive sheaves on the YXR and found no appreciable gain either. In fact they upshifted slower, did have (YES)...better overall top speeds, but my ET was way slower. I spent a whole season messing with that one. Man I had alot of time on my hands before my kids were born.
