I picked up a 2002 SRX today-Pics

I had mentioned earlier in the week that I had went and looked at an '02 SRX

So I went and picked it up this morning, seems to be in good shape, has a can of some sort.
The foam on the underside of the hood is melting, I am thinking because the can raises the pipes up a bit? Does anyone know why this would happened? Also look at the right side belly pan, it is melted as well, has anyone ever seen this?
Can anyone ID this track?
Came with 3 brand new plugs and a 2nd belt
It does have a dime sized hole in the right side of the seat

your can is a Hauck Growler can (very loud) and your track looks to be a 1-1.2 durasport full block very good track
 
yes, that can is very loud, has anyone seen them causing the melting issues on the inside foam or that belly pan or do I have another issue?
 
Melting hole

There is supposed be a heat shield installed above the shock tower to keep the pipes from melting through. Could also be an Avenger track. What make is it.
 
I am going to look at the track closer to see what brand, It was just soooo hot today I just pulled it into the garage and went home
 
there should be a part number on the track but kinda looks like this ;)!

I will check it out.
My plans are
A good cleaning overall
Clean and check PV's
Clean carbs
Replace the melted foam on the underside of hood
Look at the melted bellypan further and perhaps get another that isnt melted, does anyone have one for sale?
Wait for snow and resist the urge to sell it before it snows, I bought it for cheap, or what I think is cheap.
 
Has anyone repainted their trailing arms and upper/lower control arms or does powder coating hold up alot better
 
I have painted mine with great success.I actually used the rubberized coating first and then painted on top of it..works great.I used Krylon Paint because it dries quicker between coats.Of course power coating is the best,but will cost you more.
 
The best thing you can do to make it last is use a good quality car paint, I use Dupont chroma base. It's gonna cost more but will look very nice and last a long time. The only thing better would be powder coating.
 
I would love to have my front end and all the pieces looking like Bluemonsters1's
