What does "degree of twist" on secondary spring mean? What result does changing it higher or lower do?

The more the degree you wrap the spring on the secondary the more pressure the clutch puts on the belt. Less twist means less pressure. You want enough wrap on the spring to hold the belt with no slip if to much wrap you will get exsisive heat same as if not enough spring pressure. I think that's what you were asking for.

also, more spring tension = more rpm. your slowing the upshift. opposite is true as well, less tension loads the engine quicker by upshifting faster. fine line in between there and many things can change the performance. snow conditions, temp, humidity, etc.

for some good reading, cutlers clutch tuning handbook or aaens clutch book. both are invaluable, i find cutlers book to be a bit more reader friendly.
