so im getting ready to put a 4-5" riser on my sled. The 2" just doesn't cut it. I know a lot of people buy this kit on ebay (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/230583698047?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649) Is there any oter cables hoses that need to be longer ( oil, brake?) Ive searched and could not find a definitive answer. Everyone goes with 2" or 8" +.
should be a good height for standing and go with the 136" track kit ill be putting on.
any ideas?
thanks.

Going that high depending on what sled (sxr) and what type of riser you should extend all three. Brake, throttle, and oil cable. Are you going with a block or pivot riser?

its an 00 sxr. I'm thinking going for a pivot riser so its not to far back. I'm nowhere near my sled for 2 weeks otherwise id try to loosen it all up and see what kind of room I have. I'm not really wanting to mess with the oil line.

Well you will need the throttle and oil for sure going with a 5" pivot and keeping stock bars. Brake you may be able to squeeze out but thats a riser by riser thing. I dont know your sled very well but i do know my 98 xtc was maxed out at 2 inch block riser. If you change bars you can go with a few options. You will want to use the 03 mtn viper oil cable and throttle if i remember right for oem cables. I dont recommend going with aftermarket cables when doining this. But just do some searching and reading to form your own opinion. also ask as many questions as you can think of. Im sending you a few links to check out.

I've used RSI cables and brake line. I've not any problems with them.
Just do it
Extend the brake line. It is not that hard. Then you are free to to do what you want.

ok I may as well do it, being 6'2" a 2" rise sucks.

ok so since ive spent all my cash on a track extention kit the riser ill do in the next month or two.
correct me if im wrong but I think this will work.
rox 5" pivot risers
mountain max oil and throttle cables
mountain max brake hose
I can re route the parking brake and it should be fine
how muck longer is the mountain max brake hose? I'll need about 2-3 inches to make this work.
from ebay I can get this all for about $170 to my door, unless you guys have some of this and need to get rid of it (hint hint)

no way on the mtn max parts! you want 03 mtn viper parts.
mtn max throttle cables have a 90* bend at the carbs, shortens your reach by almost 4". mtn viper cables come straight in, are longer than the mtn max and are the ones you really want.
parts will start with 8EN, not 8EK.

I would go another direction
Others can chime in, but I would look at another option. Stock mm cables are not that long. i had to extend all on my mm controls to get a 6" riser. Dennis Kirk would be where I would go for a power MADD throttle/brake cable extension. I believe they had.Spi? brake hose longer than stock. They have them for the max. The mountain viper OEM might be an option. I do not know about srx cabling. Is there two? Oil and throttle? If so I would got for the power MADD. But a fair warning, the oil cable needs to be played with. For what ever reason I have done two of these, and whatever length the power MADD Cable is not the stock length/ setting. The cable has the mid point adjustment, and that is really good, but I have had to monitor my oil consumption on both my machines and adjust accordingly. It is a pain in the a**, but some extensions do not even have a midpoint adjustment coupling. I would loose the emergency parking bake alltogether. So there you go my2 cents

I would check again
Not to be a pest, but I would check again. The oil needs to have a midpoint adjustment. The off road Idaho do not look like the y have one. I would not compromise n this edit sorry it looks like it has an adjustment. That would be ok.

I cant recommend the spi cables. Had em on my exciter and they were junk. They cracked and rusted. There are cheaper options than the rox. save a little on the rox and get some quality aftermarket ones or oem mtn viper ones. I would personally swap the stock bars because they arent the best bend.
Il post a pic of a very affordable setup in a couple of mins. My rsi backcountry bar setup is on another sled now so this is what i picked up for the ol vmax. The bars them selves and they fell of em are the same. cost $40

interested to see what you have. The oem mountain viper cables (oil, throttle, brake line) should be just under $100 shipped, so I think this is my best option. Id rather get quality Yamaha parts.
I put a 3.5" riser on my 97' vmax 600 without extending any of my cables. The brake line was plenty long and the other two I rerouted through a hole I added to the hood (with rubber grommet to stop damage.
Put a bit over 1500kms on it last winter with no issues, also this is with my TORS working properly.

sorry for the wait. I was out of town.
8" rsi bars with a 2" riser block.
On the warrior there is stock bars and powermadd risers, cable extension, brake line.

no problem, i'm not ordering anything right away anyway. Another option to look into. How much higher are the 8" bars than stock. I'm not sure on the stock bar height.

I can measure stock bars tomorrow. But its not just the rise but the width and bend.

thanks man. much appreciated! Ive already got a 2" block and the bars will be a lot cheaper than a 5" riser and probably stronger I guess.
