Rolled the Attak into the garage yesterday.

Step one...weigh it...this eliminates all the manufactures optimistic claims and Yamaha bashers claims.

Ready to ride but no fuel, all other fluids full.

615 pounds

Found my first issue...broken chaincase tensioner post...when I road it there was a ratcheting noise from chaincase...thought it was only a loose chain...no such luck!

Some other info on my Attak

-Stock seat...22lbs!!! I am installing an 8lb Boss seat for loss of 14lbs

-I have gotten rid of the 136" 1 1/4" fully studded ripsaw[DON'T LIKE STUDDED TRACKS!]...56lbs!!! I am installing 42lb 1 1/4 Ripsaw II for loss of 14lbs again.

I already have reduced the total weight by 28lbs and I haven't even got started.

My target for this sled is 550lbs full of fluids except for fuel.
Lots of Titanium and chrome moly parts to come as well as Air shocks ect

Hey Bob.....so you don't have studs in any of your sleds?

Not in any of my trail sleds...I have run studs when I was doing some oval racing but that was back in the day.
In my neck of the woods we rarely deal with conditions that require studs.

Do you think an SRX would hook up good enough without studs on regular trail conditions without alot of ice? I just bought my first SRX a few months ago and it's studded. I've never really liked studded tracks so I was thinking about taking them out.

Looking good Bob, is the SRX retired???

No my SRX is not done by a long shot...I have a Machinest working on Stainless power valves for me. I really like riding the SRX with all the changes I have done to it over the years...the Attak is more of a project for me and it will have a hard act to follow!

Today:
-removed tunnel protectors 3lbs gone and less ice buildup

It would depend on the track you are using. On my SRX I am running a 144 x 1 1/4 ripsaw[no studs] and I have very few traction issues.

standard length track, looks to be 1" lugs, not sure what track it is though. On my 700sx I'm still running the original track with a quite a few lugs missing, that did have alot of track spin until I put on a set of the adjustable transfer rods. The SRX also has the adjustable rods so that should help. That Attak looks nice, what do they have for HP stock?

The cooler is right from Yamaha and sold as a kit for the Attak as they came with no rear coolers just like the original Vipers.

I had to elongate the tunnel opening to remove the old pipe and install the new cooler.

Cooler installed
