Viper carb screens

I read in another thread about ethanol causing bacteria to grow on the screens under the needle or somewhere in the carb. I just cleaned my carbs and didn't see any screens. Can someone please post a pic or explain where they are?

You have to remove the float. Best tool for that is a spring loaded center punch to pop that pin out then remove float. Under that is a small screw you remove then pop out the "my mind is blank for a name of it" thingy that the needle goes into and the screens are on the bottom of that. The "screen" will have a plastic rim/ring with screen dome. The plastic snaps around the outter edge of the seat. If yours has none don't be alarmed. I have read here from a few guys that toss them in the trash.

Thx for the link, I'll take the carbs out again and clean the screens

They sell it here where I live, I'll make sure to run this stuff from now on

They have it available at 1 station here to in 91 octane. HERES WHY I DONT USE IT. I baby sat the pump for quite a while and "odometer" on pump hardly ever moves. Suggesting to me that even though its E FREE its also stale. Stale fuel creates its own problems, I feel better running fresh 93 octane premium.

Does the 110 octane race fuel from BP have ethanol? I bought 5 gallons and the fuel looks very dark, not clear. Is the dark color normal?

The most common issue I've found with using e-10 is the formation of paraffin buggers that like to plug the pilots.

Since "don't use it" isn't always an option on the trail, run as much as you can out before storing for periods longer than 3-4 weeks.
