I want to hook up my gps this year just using the auto plug that came with the gps. I have 2 locations for heated shield plugs one on the bars and one on the dash. Could I possibly hook up to one of those? I do not have a battery, shes a pulls start. 2 headlight 300W system. Do I need a rectifier or is there dc on the sled? :letitsnow :carbs:
 
You will have to find the clean DC source if not using a battery for a gps. http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?t=58664&page=1&pp=10 Here is a link to get you started. I would also use a on off switch or at least make sure gps is unpluged when start sled to avoid any spikes that would kill your gps. Also make sure you either buy and use the a gps hardwire kit that reduces the voltage or just hook up a 12v lighter adapter and use the car adapter for the gps which does this also.

looks to be the best option Any opinions?
 
That looks like a great option. Never seen that before but i like the looks of it and would be easy to wire in. You could then use any constant ac source to wire into like blue wire under handlebar pad. I would still use a on/off switch to make sure there is no draw at start up. Then once warmed up just flip it on. Another link i found you can also use the brown wire for the reverse buzzer. What did you hard wire it to?
 
gauge bulbs are a good spot as they run off the tail lamp.


I was going to suggest romeister power supply. I just put one on my enticer. you would then use a usb connector or an rca hook-up as it is made to run heated shields and charge/run gps units. he says it is supposed to take any 12v ac or dc input and make it safe dc for your accessories. he is a site member on the 2stroke side.

Where can I buy one or how can I find the guy?
 
I can't remember for sure, but I think... it was the brown wire in the main harness. Also If you want to charge a cell phone or run you're heated visor as well, Rockmiester on the four stroke side sells a nifty set up. He'll even make up a plug for your sled, so that it all looks professional.
