accesory power on the viper

So im adding some things to my viper and a few of them need power. Im adding the ohlins ec shock, digital temp gauge, extra led tail light, and maybe a couple red little accent lights. Whats the best way to tackle this? I was planning on finding clean dc switched power and adding a fuse link and just pulling power off of that. Is there a better option?
 
Jason why dont you just take a lead off of your battery and build a small fuse box to handle your extra stuff. You can get them a radio shack and then wire it up. Plenty of room to mount it above the right footwell by the battery. Im going to try this with the extra stuff im running now. GPS, Heated shield, HID's, ect..... Then it is isolated and your not taping into wires on the harness. It wont change how much load is on the stator, it all needs power no mater where you put it. You could even wire it so its only powered when the sled is on. Should be able to do that through the key switch in some way. Other wise the brown wire from the tach is a clean DC and is key'd. im sure you saw this but i have some old links in it. Thanks Chris, I like the idea of going off the battery. That seems like a safe way to do it. Now the question is, how do you run it through the key? sounds like I may need another switch to run it all and not even go through the key. That would be nice though.
 
The tail light is spliced and run already from under the tank. Would just the temp gauge, EC shock, and maybe some lights be too much for the system where I'd need to run through the battery?
 
It dosent matter if its run through the battery or wired in direct. Its all the same to the stator. The stator either has to power the devices direct or by charging the battery from the draw of the devices. The nice thing is all the stuff you are running will be a very low draw. And with a led tail light you can buy some power back. Hid's will help also. That 300watt ignition can handle it really well. I never had a problem all last winter running all my stuff at the same time.
 
Noe as far as having the fuse box power up by the key can be done, will just have to do some research and testing with a multimeter. A simple switched fuse box will also work. A simple flick of the switch and your powered up. U can even run multi switched fuse box. That way your extra LEDs can be off when not needed.
 
Jason just got done doing some testing on a good key'd power source. I can say for sure the brown wire from the key swift h says hot with key on and off with key off. Great place to get power. Only thing I can't say for sure is if it will be DC. Can't start sled and my e start isn't hooked up yet but I'm betting it is. Will test more Monday after e start install.
