Sounds like it could be one of the spacers that go behind the gears.

I think your referring to the spacer that goes on the axle behind the chaincase. Sorry Kev I think your gunna have to pull the case to install. ---Mac---

the spacer behind the chaincase has a o-ring inside it, so if the spacer has no o-ring its from behind the gears
