I have a 20L x 7-7.5w enclosed trailer...its tall...8' maybe???? I want to be able to haul 5-6 sleds and 100-200 gal fuel tank. I am thinking I obviously need to go up. Thinking about adding another level to the trailer to allow storage of a few extra parts, a big fuel tank to haul non ethanol fuel, and an area to hold 1-2 sleds, allowing 4 sleds on the bottom. Want to keep costs low so looking to build out of simple building materials....2x4s and plywood or osb. Thinking about making the front 10' solid with a hinge on the second 10' to act as a ramp and have it lifted by a simple pulley/cable/comealong system. Anyone ever build anything like this, any suggestions?

Havent ever built one but I think I would shy away from lumber framing. Board or two breaks and you have one hell of a mess! 2x2 or 2x4 thick walled steel tubing would be my choice. I would look into a variety of tanks, Maybe even find one you could mount under the trailer. 12V pump motor and a hose...Mobile gas station! Whats your tow vehicle? Maybe put a sled deck on it to haul a few more.
You might be able to fit 5 sleds in the way it is if you have a V-nose. It is tight and there is no room for anything else besides gear bags.
We usually do it where you drive the first straight up the middle into the V then back 1 in on each side of so they are all tunnel to tunnel and then drive the rear 2 in.
I've also seen the front 3 drove in and the back 2 backed in.

Unfortunately it is not a v-nose. Still would need room for the fuel tank. Tow vehicle will vary from a short bed diesel (trying to avoid loading a sled in the bed, would have to have tail gate off), to a flatbed diesel (which would hold 2 sleds)
I like the idea of a steel frame, but my wallet doesnt. But running down the road might cause problems for a timber frame ramp....vibration and movement might pull it apart. Maybe use all screws rather than nail guns?
