Viper mystery coolant leak!!

So I'm going to advocate the devil and ask this. When you picked up the sled, had it been apart to have the carbs cleaned so that it would run for you? When you inspected it before purchase did you open up the pressure cap and spill a little coolant into the belly? Have you pulled the carbs and put them back in to run it? When you spill even a little bit of coolant in the belly pan it will seem to take forever to stop dripping. These things seem to hide it and let the last little bit out one drip at a time to drive us crazy.

I had my sled drained this fall and I over flowed a bunch into the belly pan when filling it. I then ran it with the head bleeder cracked and dribbled a bunch more in there. Most of it came pouring out but it seemed like I had a moist spot under it every morning for days until it stopped. I did the paper towel under the water pump, came out clean and dry.

I know where we're coming from, we all love our machines and don't want there to be any problems with them.

Carbs have been off and thoroughly cleaned and put back on. I did spill some coolant in the belly. I am sure you are right and some of this problem is linked to that. At this point I have ruled out any drips around the belly and front heat exchanger to be me spilling coolant. But in my opinion I do not think over spilled coolant would be leaking from the left heat exchanger.

Bare with me guys, I have almost no experience whatsoever. I have never had a Motor apart, never been around anyone to learn from.. With this forum I have learned a lot so far, but I definitely have a lot more to learn. Last thing I want to do is blow up my sled first ride of the season. Thanks for everyone's help
 
I say you spray the inside of the engine area with a garden hose and let it dry. I like to clean my pans every year and I just give some attention as to where Im spraying (not in air box) and go to town. Let is dry for a few days and reassess the problem. Im thinking that if there is any leftover antifreeze in the pans, that it will likely get washed out. If it continues to show up after a week of drying then start digging again. If you put a fan on it it might dry quicker too...

I have a "leak" from the chain case i cant find. Thought I maybe cracked the case but I took it apart and there is not a thing wrong with it. Everything looks good including the seal and bearing seals. But that damn thing leaked all spring. Im going to go over it again when I put the track back in but Im stumped so far.
 
Depending on how you have the sled sitting you could have coolant running through the belly pan and making its way over to where the hose connects to the left running board. There is a hole in the plastic that the nipple passes through. If it were able to run that way, it could get onto the exchanger then drip off the front. If she is holding pressure during an air test for a long time, I would be leaning that way as to the source of the drip.

make sure your drain bolt is tight! same thing hapened to me after i re built it.
 
Check the connection under the rear bumper cover where the cooler hose conects to the exchanger. Had a leak there and it was running down the top of the exchanger to the belly pan. Couldnt see it cause it was between exchanger and running board.
