what are your temps.We just finished get over -25 to -30 wind chill days..and a little warmer today..cold has a lot to do with it for sure.
Not sure what the wind chill factor would have ben but actual temp was 15-18 degrees and had ben extremely windy for several days. Sled was stored in clamshell. Never had a chance to clean carbs over the summer like I usually do (worked 80+ hrs every week all summer) Fired it up to ride it out of clamshell into 4 place haulmark (with HEATER) for carb clean and prep to hit the trails.

Same issue with my 2000 SRX 700. I know starting fluid is bad, but after 20 pulls and not even a burp. Give it a little spray and within 3-4 pulls it's purring. I have done the choke plunger mod/fix as well. I may try going with a fuel pump from a red-head triple. I heard these are better and have cured the "30 pulls to start" issues.
Wow, thanks for all the replies, I thought the thread died with my last response back on page 1. Anyway, my original symptom was a new season "no start". I go full choke, spray starter fluid, the sled starts, it burns the spray and than dies. I never got the sled to run without the starter fluid. I also now realize that starter fluid should not be used or mentioned on this forum and will refer to it in the future as "premix in a cylinder". Once again, it never ran without the "premix".
Based on the success from another "hard start" thread, I ordered the redhat fuel pump last weekend. I will double check the vacuum line that drives the fuel pump when pull everything and install it. I will update this thread once I replace the pump, and hopefully report my success, thanks again !!!
I think your seat screens are plugged or pilot jets.

Cleaned the pilots and mains already, not sure where the seat screens are...
Take the pin out of the float and remove it. Then there is a Phillips screw underneath it. Take the screw out and grab hold of the brass seat and pull it straight out. There is a screen underneath it. I bet it's clogged solid.

I probably wouldn't be pouring gas in the air box. Unless you've plugged the drain holes in the bottom all that gas is running down into your engine compartment. jmo

I fired up my 01 this afternoon after sitting for about a month since my initial first start after storage.It took 6 pulls with full choke and it started and run with no choke after about 3 seconds,of course this was in my shed which had the heat on all day as I was tinkering out there today so I'm sure the heat had a bit to do with the quick fire up.

*********************UPDATE******************************
FIXED. Yesterday I received the red hat fuel pump and fuel filter. I had read in one of the "hard start" threads that this was a fix so I ordered it and it was $80. This morning I put them in and the sled started and stayed running! It wasn't without a struggle though, I dropped the filter and fuel line inside the tank and wasn't able to get it out until I pulled the tank and turned it upside down. I emptied the gas out into a tank and than was able to fish the filter back out. The second time I did what was suggested on a thread somewhere, I placed the fuel filter on the gas line and than fished a clothes hanger up from the side inlet to the gas cap opening. I than put the gas line on the hanger and pulled it back out the side.
The part numbers I used are;
8CH-24410-00-00 "RED HAT" FUEL PUMP
8H5-24560-00-00 FUEL FILTER
I got both of my sleds running now and just need some snow for a test ride.
