At 9500 miles on the chain, you should remove the chain from the chaincase and inspect every link to make sure none of the plates are broken. You also need to check how worn the chain using the procedure shown inthe service manual. When I get home I will look it up and post it. Basically you need to pull the chain tight and measure the center to center distance over many links. The service manual calls out the number of links and the maximum distance. I ran the chain in my SRX so many miles that I ran out of range on the adjuster. Then it would slip and at first I thought it was a loose track. It is also a good idea at the start of every season to drain the chaincase oil, REMOVE the cover and clean out all the sludge that accumulates from the chain and sprockets wearing. The drain plug only lets the oil drain leaving the sludge behind. Removing the cover allows you to see if there are any mystery parts acumulating such as the bearing cages starting to fall apart. I wash out the chaincase using a lightweight spray oil like WD-40, put it back together then fill it with a synthetic 75-90W gear oil. Some swear by automatic transmission fluid but I like to use gear oil. I'll post the chain specs later tonight. If the chain is worn beyond the maximum limit, the reccomendation is to replace the chain and bothe sprockest as a set. A new chain on worn sprockets will cause the cahin to wear much faster. I replaced my worn chain with the sprockets and chain from another 00 SRX which only had 1600 miles on it. I got the whole chaincase for $40, retail all the new parts are a few hundred $s.
