Anti freeze,........ ever change yours?

I just read the article in the new Snow Tech about Doo switching to the orange long life anti freeze in their new sleds and it got me wondering if anyone ever checked the recommended change interval for the coolant in their sled? I can't say as I've ever changed it just for the sake of changing it because the manual says so,even when I've had a burn down I always try to catch as much as possible to put it back in when the engine goes back together lol.Lets face it the stuff is just too expensive to drain every few years and besides that there isn't any place locally to take used coolant.
 
only did in on my 97 700sx at 7000 miles because I rebuilt the top end.......... 70/30 mix of prestone.
 
I only change it during hose removal work. What did snowtech say about the orange long life stuff? Must be a trick or tip to do that?

The old fashioned anti freeze is Cheap. I had to change the ect on my Audi and I lost a gallon of the pink long life anti freeze. That's $22 a gallon.
 
I have been using the orange DexCool fluid since 2008. It has been working fine. SRX and RX1 have been running cool using it. I change the coolant every other year to keep the corrosion inhibitors fresh. Probably excessive but I like wrenching on the sleds as much as riding them so I'll use any excuse to work on them. I use the pur DexCool in a 50-50 ratio with distilled water.

use antfreeze aluminum compatible,most are anyways.Go 60/40 mixture and use water wetter..I have never overheated even on above 0 days and doing high speed runs with my SRX.I changed mine every second year,but now don't bother except to top it off.

I don't recall right off the exact wording but they changed over to the orange stuff for the fact that it's long life and supposedly has better corrosion resistance.

I use an antifreeze additive in mine too blue,I think it was one that amsoil sells because my cousin give it to me,he sells amsoil.I can't say as I've ever had my sled over heat unless I didn't get the air bled out properly from a rebuild.I did have that happen once or twice but once the air was out it was fine.I've thought about going to the orange stuff but like horkn says that stuff is more money than the green.I bought a gallon years ago,like probably 7,and it was $16 a gallon then so I can only imagine what it is now.
 
only did it on the 05 war as they had messed up the coolant from the factory by putting straight antifreeze into it. usually just top off after adding coolers or a motor rebuild. I just use a test meter to see how bad the voltage is on it and change it according to that spec.
 
I just did both of my sleds... the Viper because I added an Opticool head gasket and rear heat exchanger, and the V-max because it was probably very old. The manual says change it at least once every year with 60:40 coolant/water. It also says change the brake fluid every year and brake line every 2 years...
