Front suspension ?'s

Alright so a couple weeks ago I decided to replace the front shocks on my srx after seeing amato's white srx with shocks from a kfx 450r. So after getting them revalved I started putting my front suspension back together and I know that these are a little longer than the stock srx shocks, but as I mounted the new shocks up it just seems like there too long. Ive only had the front suspension out once after replacing one of my trailing arms and is there a certain order that u have to put the suspension back together?
 
He has a wider front end than stock on that sled. His look like aluminum radius rods. Venture radius rods and tie rods work too. You also need to make a spacer for the sway bar. Or Betheviper makes a widening kit. I think his are extensions that use your stock rods. If your brackets are still stock you don't want to flip them, that will give you even less room.
 
Not to hijack, but does he have anything to stretch out the SXR at all? I asked him once and he never responded.
Our max width here in WI is 48", I figure if we can go that wide, why not?

Not familiar with his sled and cant seem to find a pic. Based on his statement about only have suspension apart only one other time to swap a trailing arm I assumed it was stock.

Not to assist you in your hijack attempt BUT seems like he would, WE really cant answer for some one else on what they have or don't have. Even if some one chimed in that they got same stuff your looking for its entirely possible he doesn't have the parts any more. Maybe he didn't get original message? Maybe a second PM?
 
Im gonna go check the eye to eye distance in a bit and I will report back. Originally I was gonna flip the brackets but cant do that now. When I first talked to amato about using this kind of shocks I was told that they bolt up like stock. I believe these new shocks were about 1.5" longer and are the clicker style.
 
So I looked through my pm's and before I bought them he said u don't need viper mounts, they bolt right up using stock srx mounts.
 
I have rydefx shocks off a base model rmk on my vmax. I just had to add washers under the tie rods and trim my skid plate because the lower radius rod was bringing up. Remember you have to do both sides at the same time because the sway bar will be resisting. I havent measured but the rmk shocks were about 2" longer. What exactly is making them seem "to long"?
 
I just went a re-read Amatos working log on that sled. He was shooting for a 42.5" ski stance but ended up at 41.5" which is hardly any wider than the stocker in my garage. It should bolt up.
 
well I went and measured and eye to eye is about 16.5". and yea my only thought was that maybe I mixed up the brackets since I was gonna originally flip them. So tomorrow I got some extra time so Ill work on it some more and hopefully everything will work out. But I was also wondering if anyone has a certain method on installing the front end components as in bolt the trailing arms up but don't tighten them up all the way, along with the shocks?
 
I usually put shock on then rotate trailing arm then put top radius rod in (just because its so tight to get shock bolt and nut in.photo (8).jpg
 
Devinzz1 I saw your post earlier and this afternoon I was able to get the front end up in the air more and got the shock in along with the trailing arm but didn't tighten it up all the way and for me the lower radius rod was the tightest to get in but now got one side done and then tomorrow gonna get the other side done. thanks for the info
 
Im not sure if he did have his shafts shortened. yesterday I got the sled up in the air and tilted it a little and I was able to get the right side trailing arm and radius rods all bolted up. But we shall see how the other side goes, I gotta still figure out how the steering arms? attach to the ski and everything, I knew I should've taken before pictures.
 
So tonight I was finishing up putting my front suspension together almost got everything buttoned up, but one little issue I have is attaching the outside arm that attaches to the ski. I got the left side attached but cant seem to line up the right side. There's a rod that attaches to the steering and I cant seem to line this rod up to this outside arm so that the ski sits straight any ideas?
 
you mean the skis arent parallel with each other? I had same problem. When the suspension was sagged it was within reason but when fully extended the toe in/out was off. Just adjust your tie rods to a happy medium. My sled rides fine now but heres a pic of it before I adjusted it.

Yea I got the left side hooked up and that ski is straight but I wasn't able to get the right side tie rod connected to the outside arm, I haven't adjusted that tie rod yet wasn't sure if I wanted to mess with the setting it was at, but looks like I'm gonna have to do that.
