2001 srx 700 weird rpm problem 8500rpm then bogs to 8000rpm

Everything is stock on the sled, I don't remember what the secondary is wrapped to offhand but what would you say, change the wrap to something else and see if I can get it to stay at 8500rpm or closer to that instead of bogging down? Guess the worst that could happen is it just won't have the power it should, I'll mess around with it tonight and see what I come up with. The primary I already took apart and cleaned everything spotless so I guess I'll try playing with the secondary.

As a rule you don't want to fine tune your revs with the secondary settings, that's what you have tuning rivets in the primary weights for but from the description of what you stated your sled is doing I'd be willing to bet you either have a spring that's lost it's tension and not holding the proper shift ratio to match your primary or perhaps a bushing that has had the majority of the coating wore off and you have metal to metal contact not allowing things to move smoothly. You say you took the primary apart and cleaned it all up,it's time to do the same with the secondary.Check the sliding shoes that the helix rides on and the 2 bushings, one in the sliding sheave and one in the helix. You say your bud has a sled like yours with a kit in it,perhaps you can get his stock springs to try,it would at least help eliminate them as a possible source of your problems.

There was a post on here a while back from another TY member that had a similiar problem, turned out to be spark plug caps.

Just wanted to pop in again, I did fix the problem. My secondary spring was shot so I just bought a new Primary and Secondary spring to replace them both at once and the sled is going like a raped ape again! Thanks for everyones help!
