Hello all, hopefully this doesn't open up a can of worms!
I have had my viper for 3 years. Got it with the bender pipes, studded stock track at least 144 outside and middle. Opticool head gasket. I rode it for a year and was super fast but sucked the gas So I put stock jets in and put it back to stock exhaust. Changed the clutch to this set up. I was told it was what Dr. Viper had. Red primary 3.1 g at tip 2.4g middle 5-6 washers at heel. I got a Dalton 48/34 secondary helix and red spring in #6 hole. Now rode it last year a got to open it up across a long lake. It's been over a year now but if memory serves me correct I think I hit 109 on Speedo and 86 on gps not sure on Rpms. engagement is at about 4100. After reading all the articles on clutching I'm confused again. Now talking about a green spring and steeper angles on helix. Not sure what to do now. New track is in the future thinking of using the cobra. But trying to get a little more out of the girl first.
Any and all help is appreciated

I am unsure who Dr.viper is but you dont have near enough weight in the primary. You do have a good sec. set up for the h/c's. Your heel weight needs to be about 5 grams and use a 3.4 grams set up in the first hole and a 4.3 set up in the tip. Use your 48/34 with stock viper red dot yamaha sec spring wound at 80. That should be a pretty big improvement. You want 8600rpm on the tach wide open.
If your after more topend back off the sec to 60-70 ahd it will mph alot more but your backshift will suffer so when your in the trail on and off the gas, it will lug slightly more. Youll have to find a happy medium where its likeable to you riding it.
Ok thank you for the help. I will try to get the primary straightened out. I did forget to mention that I put the larger rollers in. I believe they were the 15mm. Is this ok with that set up as well or should I put the stock ones back in?

the 15mm rollers will be fine, its a better shift curve with them and its easier to hook up the track. report back on the rpm, it will be slightly higher with the larger rollers but 8600rpm up top is the sweet spot.

Ok I will. One last thing, you said to have 4.3 at the tip is that total including the roller and screw or additional not including the roller and screw? I had to grind some of the washer away to make to edge flat so the arms could move freely is this normal and should this be after you measure the 4.3 or does that little bit matter?

I dont know what a roller and screw is????.
4.3 is the amount of weight in grams, that would be the long bolt which is 3.3 grams and 1 washer.
do you have a gram scale?

I had one when I tried to do this the first time. I just ordered one.
Well I think I really have this messed up. Is there somewhere where I can get information on where to put the weight. As far as what is considered the tip, first hole and base. I checked you tube and they either have skidoo or Polaris clutches and just are replacing the whole arm.
Now let me ask you this, I can do this with the stock arms correct?

ok, so now we know what weights you have(8ek), how about telling me and others here what springs you have and what helix and spring for sure is in the back, as its the combo of parts all together that makes it work. we need to know for sure what you have in order to help you get it going.
the front clutch spring will be all 1 color or black with 3 little color marks on it.
the rear spring should be all black with a small colored dot
helix will say what angles are on it/
another thing you can do is post pics of what you have.

Jim, private message me your phone number, we can solve more in 5mins on the phone then 100 typing replies back and forth.
Well I'm not completely sure I looked in my manual and the arm looks different than what is in the clutch. Does the heel clicker have a Allen screw next to the roller? I didn't see that on the picture in the book
