03 sx viper connecting rod

Hi all new to the Yamaha world. Just purchased a custom build sx viper sno x sled. It had a hauck 900 in it that blew the center rod through the case. Then the guy I bought it from put in a stock 700 and center rod bearing went so he pulled the crank and send it to northern up in thief river and they put all new bearings in it and sent it back to him. He then reassembled everything and it ran great for about 300 miles and a noise started coming from engine. So he parked it and I bought it from him I pulled the clutch hoping it was just clutch noise and it wasn't so I decided I would drive it home and pull it apart and see what I could find. Well I made it about two blocks from my house and boom center rod through the case. Is this a common problem with these engines? I wanna rebuild it, but don't want this to happen again. The sled does have a full slp triple pipe system. Also if anyone is looking for a hauk stroker crank with the two good rods, the cylinders, powervalves, and the head I'd be willing to do some swapping for the parts I need to get this thing up and going again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Your post is a little confusing based on "stock" 700 and then listing stroker cranks and other parts that I assume that aren't stock. Or are these the other blown engine parts? There is LOTS of thread about Viper rods/crank bearings....Some swear up down left and right there is a problem. Others (I am in this group) feel its more of a poor summer storage issue. They do have an advanced timing curve with a less than desireable head design as far as cooling goes. Raise the needles, Opticool gasket, rear heat exchanger, quality oil and proper summer storage and you should get plenty of reliable miles out of it......so long as you clean carbs every pre-season.
 
the stroker parts are the other blown engine. It does have a rear cooler had the opticool gasket, always ran klotz syn oil and when the 700 rod bearing went down engine had just been built and rode for three hundred miles so was never stored. I guess Ill just rebuild and hope for the best. Anyone know where I can get a center rod? I have only been able to find pto and mag side rods.

Probably due to the average guy doesn't have the tools to pull the crank apart and press it back together to change center rod/bearing......Just guessing/assuming, I don't know that to be factual.
 
The crank was sent to a crank specialty shop in thief river Minnesota. The guy that originaly built my sled is the head tech for the Yamaha usxc race team. I have a degree in powersports tech and marine tech. So just not the average guys been working on it.
 
Obviously you have a oil problem or assembled improperly. These engines are not difficult at all. What is the oil cable set at? Even though you are a service tech, for Marine use, don't assume these are the same as PWC's or outboards. Keep it stock and you will see 10k plus miles easily.

I believe to took my post the wrong way, or at least not the way I meant it. Wasn't calling any one involved with your sled an average guy. Center rod/bearings are not going to have much of a demand on most public parts site as most of the public doesn't have to tools to perform the work. How far was "the ride home"? How far did it take to go from "making noise" to "rod threw the case"?
 
OK thanks for clarification on that. The ride home was less then 1 mile and was through town so wasn't even barely hitting 6 grand at any given time. As far as the noise was hardly even noticeable. So not sure how long it was making it you could really only hear it if you had your helmet off and just kinda burped the gas from idle to 4600 once clutch engaged you couldn't hear noise anymore.
