2002 yamaha srx 700 just got it

Hey guys. Im new to this 2002 srx 700 just picked it up for 2000 found a problem. Theres a relay on the left foot rest with the 5 wires what does that relay do. Im sure something with the lights. The relay is cooked. And about the dcs system. How many indicator lights is theyr in the speedo for 2002 please let me know and there is a plug with two wires in the cab by the headlights and its connected is that something to do with the dcs? Another question. When you first start the snowmobile should have some indicator lights when first running for like 5 to 10 sec
 
I am going to assume that the 02's are the same as the rest of the SRX's in that when you start one the temp light flashes 3 times as a diagnostic to let you know everything is fine,so at the very least you should have that flash.I don't know about the DCS,I've never had an 02.If you have no lights flashing at all then I'd start checking wiring because you said your relay was melted and you could also very well have some damaged wires if something shorted out enough to take out the relay like that.

try and count the flashes of the light while its running, it will be either short flashes or long flashes.

EXAMPLE; 2 long flash with 1 short flash would be code for the tps .

I dont have a 6 flash code but a 7 short flash code which is for a shorted out servo motor for the powervalves.

well my mistake just grabbed the 02 service update book and for the 02 srx there is a code with 6 flashes, they would all be short duration flashes that last for 7.5 seconds then repeat.(double check it)

Its for the shorted or open circuit dcs sensor thats screwed into the back of the water rail!
 
I counted the flashes last night. It is 6 long flashes not instant flashe we got the book for the 2000 but it aint the same. Im just wondering what is that fault code

actually it would be the coolant light that flashes. its the bottom right light in the speedo that gives the codes, the oil light is differnt . The dcs light only flashes thru its own range, it doesnt relay diagnostic codes, that comes from the water temp light. I gave you the code for 6 flashes earlier.

I think if your oil light is flashing instead of your temp light I suspect some one has moved the wiring/bulbs around or you have a short crossing wiring circuits.

Hey Mr. Viper. I searched the 2 long 1 short code and this came up. Thanks for the post. With TPS, what can you do to eliminate the flash? Also, do you have a different code URL page than what I have here? FYI, I was the one whom took the 98 SRX engine out and put in the Viper chassis with 01 SRX CDI. I have an restricted wire going to the temp sensor. Thanks in advance. Josh
