that's right. I pluded in 1 at a time & whent for a ride it's warm but not hot.the dial is on all the way.this is her sled so thay got to WORK!.can't I just bypass the cdi & go to lighting coil? & go to dial?.this is rediculious for a Yamaha I'm about to trade it for a 2000 & older.
 
lol. Mine on my 02 Vmax don't get all that hot either. They do get warm though. My old 98 Vmax XTC deluxe warmers would burn the hands right off of you.

I always carry a pack of those little hand warmer bags that u shake to activate. Mittens, instead of gloves, also makes a big difference.
 
im fighting the same problem on my 01 sxr700. it seems the new ignition system just does not get hot as the old one, i think its just the way it is. im trying a new resistor and seeing if that helps at all
 
ever think about snow paws , ive got a pair I used to use on real cold days when my heater grips went out ...hands never got cold
 
My warmers on my 97 have to be turned down all the way or they roast my hands. The passenger ones were not so hot until I put an led tailight in it. That made a serious difference in the passenger hand warmer temps. It also made the headlight not dim under braking. But then again, my headlight is a lot dimmer than it should be. I'm cleaning the stator off, as I hear they get rusty and don't put out the out put they should.
 
This is very odd, I have a 2000 and a 2001 SXR.. The 2001 hand warmers are blue and the 2000 are black. Both are very nice. I rarely ever run either at max heat. The 2000 has a common adjustment for hand and thumb. The 2001 has two differant adjustments. One thing I have found in the past, if you where leather gloves in the palms, you hands are much colder than the nylon gloves. My gloves are Castle brand gloves. Al
 
Covered a bunch of times. Nature of the beast.

Single headlight 175W AC, Dual bulb 300 DC and don't start producing heat until about 4000 RPM. They will get warm, but not burn your hands off like you are used to. Won't notice them working at idle. Hands won't get hot, but won't ever really get cold.

I have the same problem, compounded with new leather gloves last year. End of last year and this year the gloves are worn in and you can feel the heat much more.
 
my 01 SXR600 grips get way to hot to hold on to.I wear big mitts with liner inserts and still burn the crap out of my hands and thumb.I have to cut it way down in half the dial at least.Good to know they can really warm up the hands when required.
