I have experience with the older 94-96 vmax sleds, but have never owned a newer generation of the vmax. What information, both good and bad, can you guys tell me about these sleds? What should I look for? I am going to look at one tomorrow or the next day, it is a 97 600 with 2400 miles...Also what are some common upgrades that it has over the previous generation vmax's? What are some upgrades that most people do to the this generation of sleds. Thanks for your help!

Either the 97 or 98's had problems with the piston rings catching the exhaust port and burning up. I bought a blown up 98 sx 600, rebuilt it and it's been a great running sled for me. Just got back from a long weekend riding with no problems at all, except that it drinks gas and oil
