95rxl650 you nailed it. The only thing the srx needed was pics and clutching . The low slung chassis the proaction suspension those are all what makes this sled what it is,a rocket. On a nice groomed trail this sled rides as good as any other sled and it's faster,it's the f1 sled of the trail. Awesome sounding, super reliable, absolutely sexy looking and super fast. If ya want a smoother ride buy a different sled. The srx is a srx because of the way yamaha put it together. It's been proven time and time again that when guys started to upgrade this sled that it made it slower or it took away the reliability. Ya can't perfect perfection guys. To this day these sleds still turn heads and blow away the competition. I wouldn't change a thing.
To me, perfection would mean a skid that didn't degrade in perfomance and require service/welding after it's first 100 miles. The KYB shock valving wasn't even close. The .920 yoko was far from perfect with or without studs.
The powertrain - in full agreement.
Although it took me over 10 years - the changes made have turned the buckboard it was into a decent big bump performer without sacrificing any groomed trail performance. Wider is better.
Like a good clutch recipe - you have to include ALL the incredients.
I turned the big 50 last September so I'm a couple years ahead of you. I sure could use 20 year old to pull it over for me.
LOL, I thought it was the oil I was using or tight crank bearings or something, but I pulled my skirt up and just pulled harder. My next sled will have electric start and reverse, and I'm not afraid to say it !

I used to be that cocky 20 year old and would start my, at the time, near retired buddies sleds for them and say something like put your purse down or wash the sand out of your... kitty.
A four stroke with e-start, and reverse looks better and better every year.
Karma's a bit@#.

I have reverse on my SRX so I think what I am enjoying the most on my Attak is E start!
