04 Mt. Viper--Just rebuilt but still low compression???

i know this doesn't help you but if i can ask I'm making my 121"viper er into a 144" mountain swapping out the skids can u give me the measurements on three mounting points on the suspension measuring back to front would greatly appreciate it thanks again
 
I just put 3 new oem pistons in a 2001 SRX. I too noticed that the compression was lower (around 100psi) before the rings sat well. I put almost 250 mi on it and now they are all reading over 120 psi. I'm guessing you just don't have enough time on them to seat properly.

I purchased after market gaskets for my Yamahas in the past but never used them as I found them to be inferior quality and thicker then OEM. For example the base gaskets are usually fibre not metal like OEM.

I suspect your lower compression readouts are a result of the SPI pistons dimensions and the aftermarket base gasket.

I have never had problems with Klotz oil after a rebuild or any other time.

Sounds like the sled is making good power so if it ain't broke...don't fix it.


If you are still concerned do a leak down test on the engine.
 
My 98 srx 600 runs low compression as well...it runs 95 psi across the board. it starts on 3rd pull when below zero. 1st pull above 15 f. It seems low but starts easy and really rips in the open. I also used winderosa gaskets. Id say give it time
 
Ive got about 500 miles on the rebuild now and rings finally set good, shows 130 on mag and center and 120 on pto....runs great still.
